So since my reunion of my mtg pod, another retired mtg player approached me asking for help to build an EDH deck revolving around Braids, Cabal Minion.This is a big challenge especially since her ability also works against you. He wants her to be the commander rather than part of the 99 making it harder for me to get it right. So I had to be a little creative and try to make her playable while also trying to stick to my usual low budget theme.Seeing as he is okay with paying a little extra I can get away with having cards costing near the 10 dollar mark.
It is ideal you either start first or as close to first as possible to play Braids out and start the hurt as fast as possible. Also, this deck has the potential of playing Braids on turn 2 or 3 depending on your starting hand. This is all luck based so keep that in mind.I have added as many sacrificial pawns as possible in the form of both creatures (Gravecrawler, Bloodghast, Cauldron Familiar Nether Traitor, Nether Spirit and Nine-lives Familiar) and artefacts (Ichor Wellspring, Mycosynth Wellspring, Prized statue and Servo Schematic) to keep Braids appeased from your end.To add more of sacrifice effects I have also included Braids, Arisen Nightmare, Desecration Demon and Smokestack among others. There are a couple of board interactions and board wipes to keep yourself safe while you rebuild.Should Braids be removed multiple times, I recommend graveyard recursion or just ignore her completely as she is not your main win condition.Win conditions in this deck are Desecration Demon, Yahenni and Rise of the Dark Realms.Hopefully this deck is playable as I imagine it and keeps with the Braids theme as my friend intended. Otherwise he can try to spruce with up with more expensive cards.

Now I never have and never will play EDH, partially because my favorite card is Smallpox and my idea of fun of helping my opponents' reach enlightenment by helping them let go off all their attachments (permanents), allowing them to fully appreciate the beauty of their playmats.On that note, this deck does not feel staxy enough. Tainted Aether, Bottomless Pit, Painful Quandary, and the marauders Fleshbag Marauder, Accursed Marauder, Plaguecrafter etc. Thought a lot of these would requite at least 4 or 5 other cards to be moved around. Yeah, the more I think about it, the more it seems like a Smallpox, Necrogen Mists etc. build of this would require more expensive cards like Bitterblossom. Neverthelss, Tainted Aether?

Many thanks for the card ideas, I know that not everyone likes to play EDH so I don't expect much of a response.I did actually consider using the Marauders as other sac triggers but I wasn't sure if I could get a consistent reanimation setup to keep cycling through them. I might tinker around another version of this deck which includes them. I instead opted for the low cost creatures which can reanimate themselves so that I can get away with using the Braids and the Smokestack as much as possible.Tainted Aether looks awesome but I feel it is works heavily against the player as much as the opponent with the current deck setup, unless you have the right board already in play which would give an instant win through ping damage.I went ahead and added Smallpox and Painful Quandary by removing Blasphemous Edict and Braids's Frightful Return as I total missed them.
