Deck discussion for Infect FTW

I love Infect, but perhaps you might have better success and speed if you focused on two colors instead of three. Your curve is obviously low, which is great, but adding a third color to the mix could result in being bound by your deck. You could break the limitations by dropping Black and focusing on G/R.

Blight Mamba is the 1/1 green infecter for 2 CC. Assault Strobe would remain, of course.

I posted a deck called "All-in-Fect." It's is posted verbatim as it is found on the 'Building on a Budget' thread on Wizard's site. It is a G/R build. Take a look at it, I think you might be surprised at how well the cards play with one another, all while not interfereing with itself.

the reason i have it this way is so that i can use things like the memnites or ornithopters with tainted strike if needed be, but also to have some back up with the mox opal so the artifacts arent pointless, and also this deck being based around 2-3 mana, you want to get a infect creature out, assult strobe and groundswell it and swing for 12 and win haha, atleast thats the image i have in my head

Now i know that it is a high priced deck (~$150) but most of the cards i recieved from buying a box of each and trading.

I understand what you want to have happen, and you're not far off from it. The thing is, you don't want non-infecters filling your hand, you otherwise become dependent on drawing something that will make them infectors, then of course needing the mana combination to pull it off, and even then, it's just for one turn.

I like the Mox Opals here, but I would question their effectiveness. I can imagine there are times where you are still waiting for Metalcraft to hit the board; when that happens, they become more of a liability than a reliability.

Typically, you want to mulligan down to having a 2 CC infecter in your opening hand. If you drop that turn 2, you should have the mana to swing with it pumped by a Giant Growth, Groundswell, even a Prey's Vengeance for lethal counters. The 'enter tapped' lands that are in the 'All-in-Fect' build adds more pump and even the element of unblockability. You need those infecters to get in there fast for as much as possible. G will offer you considerably more pump than having B in this build.

Again, just two people talking.

@theviv69, i looked at your deck and it seems pretty solid, i just had one thing that i needed to comment on about it, but i like the concept of your deck, it isnt fast enough however, thats where i think my deck would surpass you, but your deck a tad bit cheaper so it makes it much more realistically playable

You stated that my deck is a tad bit cheaper? How so? Also what would you recommend to help speed up my deck?

@Rustedbucket, i dont see your comment as insulting haha, just constructive criticism, and i love that, but on the other hand i would have to disagree considering i have cards like plague myr and vector asp that come in as artifacts with infect or the possiblity of infect with one black mana, the fact that i have mox opal is to put me up one turn in mana when i get 3 artifacts out, not IF i get them out, any of the creature that i get out with infect can be used for infect capability and realistically can be pumped with a spell. I mean think about it, think about the chances of gettting a unfavorable hand, everything in the deck i would need to draw eventually to combo up, and the chances of getting a all non infect creature hand, ohhh lets say that has 2 memnites and 2 ornothopters, and 3 boosting spells is, 144 in 11,703,240 times that i draw a starting hand haha, im pretty sure i like the odds of that haha XD but realistically with methods of shuffling it would be more likely but still not capable in most situations, and plus, try doing some generated hands and see what shows up, i have done it alot of times, and only a few times have i even found results that werent favorable

Ok, I see where you're coming from now. I ran a couple of sample hands and I must admit the first 4 were unfavorable but workable for a turn 5 kill. Then I got this:

Mox x2, Tainted, Ornithopter, Mirrian, Stinger, and Groundswell with the first draw being a Forest. I did the math, and assuming the Stinger that was played on turn 1 gets through, it's lethal infect counters.

So I tried some more, and noticed similarities between both sets of examples. Sometimes loaded on pump, other times loaded up on land, while a few, I would have had Moxes staring at me saying, "ah ah ah, you can't use me yet." In that event, how would you feel about Smoldering Spires? It comes into play tapped, but assuming Mox support, having an unblockable infector for a turn could trounce a game that has a slow start.

Now that I've had time to work it a little bit, I do see it's speed and effectiveness.

I welcome any suggestions that you have when you are able.

actually that was a very constructive comment haha, i appriciate any persons constructive comments, and im glad you understand where im coming from with the deck, like, to some it might seem that some things are unneccisary but you cant really understand a players perspective of the deck unless you truly utilize the purpose of it haha, but i love when people form very constructive criticism cuz it shows theres need for improvement in the deck, i also have a tempered steel deck up that is one of the things that ill be relying heavily for FNM and SNM games, i would love some constructive criticism on that deck, cuz i think its really good, but as always other peoples perspective can create new deck ideas :)
