Deck discussion for Modern Burn

mainboard sulfuric vortex. it's up to you how many. Since you deal damage really fast, vortex will kill them off even if you run out of options past T4

Yes, I definitely was thinking that! Thanks for the second opinion. I also plan on replacing the Shard Volleys with Lava Spikes soon.

-Threw in three Sulfuric Vortex, sacking a Skullcrack, Ball Lightning, and Volcanic Fallout.

have you considered browbeat in this deck? although it costs 2 more than faithless looting, it does give you three cards. (opponents won't let it deal damage to them)

Also, searing blaze requires you to choose two targets and is a conditional deal 3. without fetch lands, Landfall might be a little difficult compounded by having 20 lands.

against artifacts, you'd like to get shatterstorm!

I do have a modern RDW just sharing my thoughts when I was constructing it

Awesome input.

Searing Blaze - Because it's conditional I'm not mainlining all of them. It's pretty consistent that when I use it I have a land.

I've also - instead of Browbeat - thought of Burning Inquiry. However... you may be onto something. :)

On another note, I just pout together (quickly) a Red and Green. Surprisingly fast. Did 20 Damage by turn 4 with a Skittering Lizard and 2 mana.

Once again, thanks for the help! :D If you have your deck made on here I'll check it out soon.

Maybe Vexing Devil to add to some damage via creatures?

I've thought about it, but I'm holding off because I'm a little broke. :P

Is this a legacy legal deck that you play against more casual decks or is this something you want to go up against tournament legacy decks?

If you are playing against all legacy decks then I have a few suggestions for you.

Your sideboard. It is largely more of the same. Usually if a strategy isn't working out you don't want to increase its numbers next game. I suggest a sideboard that is full of answers to potential problems that you really must deal with. If you weren't fast enough to burn them out on game 1, then you probably need to slow them down game 2. This is because burn simply can not win in less than 3 turns and is usually a turn 4-6 deck. Here is the sideboard I am using right now.

3xFaerie Macabre - Uncounterable Graveyard based deck hate
3xPyrostatic Pillar - Combo/storm, Zombardment and mirror hate
3xChaos Warp - cheap answer to Leyline of Sanctity, fatty/problem removal
2xPyroblast - blue hate. Jace, Show and Tell, merfolk, ect
1xRed Elemental Blast - see above
3xShattering Spree - multi-artifact hate. aether vial, swords, jitte, affinity, ect.

I like and dislike some of your board choices.
Ball lightning just isn't good in legacy, there are far too many instant speed removal for a 3 mana cost card in burn. it also can be blocked easily enough.
Spark Elemental is underwhelming.
I like sudden shock but i think volcanic fallout is way better and don't think you need both.
Life gain isn't that rampant in legacy, If you run sulfuric Vortex then i don't think you need skullcrack
I like magma jet but have ultimately taken mine out.
I think faithless looting is great only if you are going to run Grim Lavamancer. Otherwise i would run 1-2 max.

Cards you should run.
Chain lightning is a must play card for legacy burn/rdw
Lava Spike can only hit the player but is too efficient not to play. This is a efficiency based deck after all.
Fireblast is a must play. It is the ultimate game winner for burn and makes a turn 3 mathematically possible. A free burn spell to play when you have tapped out!
Price of Progress wrecks most legacy decks
Goblin Guide will do more damage than almost any other single card and is an important repeatable damage source for the deck. It also lets you see what your opponent is going to draw most of the time.

I like Keldon Marauders. At its worst you deal 2 damage and get a blocker. At its best you deal 5 damage for 2 mana.
Flame Rift is painful but is necessary to get them within fireblast range by turn 3 or 4.
Grim lavamancer is a good card as repeatable damage or select target damage. works best with fetch lands to fuel it and works well with faithless looting.
I love hellspark elemental for his card advantage and ability to surprise opponents who have forgotten he is in your graveyard.

Here is the current version I am playing if you are interested:

Hope some of that info helps and good luck with your deck!

Thanks for the input. I'll definitely be looking into Flame Rift. I already planned on getting Lava Spike, and I ordered my Price of Progress just the other day. :)

Hey man i just recently updated a burn deck i have to make it modern. You looked at it a long time ago and had a lot to say id like to see what you think now. Also for your current deck your sb is a bit funky like you have two of a card that your deck has four of already. other than that i used this list a lot to help me figure out my deck like the deck a lot
