Deck Description

This is my take on a dragonstorm deck that can also win without the dragonstorm going off whenever I make a deck I try not to limit myself to only one win condition enjoy!

Thankx to everyone helping get this on the front page! also check out my Vamp deck also on the front page now its called Edwards a bitch lol! thx again everyone!

Deck discussion for Dragonstorm Done Right

i might would drop geosurge to 2 or 3. if u dont have a big dragon to hit when u draw the card it can be dead. maybe add in a land or 2 for the geosurges. but thats just me. other than that its pretty interesting.

I was thinking the same thing but it helps make drawing a bogardan hellkite not useless in my hand seeing how I don't wanna draw bogardan but it does happen but ill have to play around with it a little more

yah i know what ya mean. its just another option really. i would deff say more play testing would determine that move.

a decent idea, this deck needs more lands though, one way or the other

Hey so i was going to make a deck that almost matches yours with 2 problems, one: my card shop is out of Dragonstorm, which completely ruins the entire deck. 2: they are backordered for four months, so in the mean time, i made the same deck without dragonstorm and a few other adjustments. I havent had a chance to make it yet, but i am going to soon. Please tell me what you think about it and if i should just stick with it, or take it apart once i get dragonstorm. Thanks

Lotus Petal, Rite of Flame, Desperate Ritual. Burning wish allows you to virtually run 7 copies of Dragonstorm.

those are all good suggestions unfortunatly I don't have those cards and I actually have all the cards in the decks I make on here and I don't know why cuz I play casual but for some I think burning wish is a cheap card along with the other 4 colored cards like em something about it doesn't feel right about using them but thankx for the suggestions I might get a couple of them wen I get the money

See, every dragon deck uses dragonstorm. While I agree that it is a great card, I just think that they mana cost is much too high for the use you get out of it, besides that its used in every dragon deck. I think its cliched and tried a different approach which I think works great. My biggest problem was the short game and the goblins I added really solved my issue. Also, why waste deck space on seething song? 3 for 5 isnt that great in my mind, Id much rather have 4 for 7 and boom big dragon. You ever think about adding in a planeswalker? If you splash green you can have sarkon vol or if you want a mono red koth is amazing. Instead of the torchrunner how about perilous myrs. and why don't you add in the 1 cast goblins? They slow people down a lot.

first off besides the dragons every creature must be goblin to maximize voracious dragons ability he's awsome and for only 5 mana that's why seething song is there boom big dragon :)
ok now tourchrunner is like a goblin and a lightning bolt in one hence why I think he's a staple for this deck same as the arsonist which is my one cast goblin and dragon fodder is to slow down things and also pump up my goblin count for voracious I do agree my short game maybe lacking at times but I can also easily side board some cheap goblins if need be. and I don't own ne planeswalkers nor do I think they belong in a deck like this and as it runs right now can pull of the win potentiall by turn 2-3 which is pretty amazing if u ask me

Ha, what do you know, Voracious Dragon is a 5 cast. I assumed he was a 6 like all the dragons I run. Sorry if I seemed like I was saying this is a bad deck, its not. I really like it actually. I agree planeswalkers are not really necessary in decks like this one, all they add is another win condition and another target for your opponent. You are right, a turn 2-3 win is pretty good for a dragon deck. (forgive me, but I also play a bunch of standard and I've seen turn 1 wins, so I'm not that inclined to look at how fast something can win)

This is my modern dragonstorm deck, rather than having some defense, i use blue cards to dig.
It tends to do really well.

well this has become way popular since i first posted on here. congrats on making the upcoming list. here is a mono red dragon deck that i made a while back might give u some ideas, btw Jiriki its not always the case a dragon deck uses Dstorm, the one below doesnt and is fairly consistant.

ok I've made a few changes cuz I wanna see how it runs with more lands more goblins lil less ramp but it doesn't rely on dragonstorm as much and with the addition of shenanigans more bang for my buck

ps I've always Wanted to make a dragon tribal ever since I got shivan dragon in my first box of magic cards 4th edition booster I no this isn't a true dragons tribal but its the best deck I've come up with that's original fun and effective and when I saw varacious dragons I saw a mechanic I was going to abuse with some help from dragonstorm of course

since you have goblins you may want to consider adding: Brightstone Ritual (Onslaught)

R - Add R mana to your mana pool for each goblin in play.

Theres my suggestion (unless your trying to keep it standard : / )

great suggestion not sure how that would play out I see myself playing voracious dragon before I play dragonstorm so u would have already sacked my gobs to voracious and I need the mana ramp to be there for dragonstorm ill have to think about that one more tho

honestly i would get rid of goblin shenanigans for brow beat... that card is insane draw three cards or do five damage for 3 mana, cant beat that in a red deck

ya know I knew about that card but for some reason I thought it was crazy expensive and its not that bad at $3 each I think that may solve some problems for me with this deck thankx man :)

I really like this deck!!!! Just a couple of questions/suggestions. How about a Warstorm Surge? I do see the mana cost as being a bit high but it may be worth it in the end. Or maybe a Furnance of Wrath or Gratuitous Violence? I am a firm believer of "If its not broken don't fix it" but these could be good sideboard options I guess. I play with a small group of people and its usually multiplayer matches so my perspective may be off.

Warstorm Surge = http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewCard_Popup.aspx?CardName=Warstorm%20Surge&Edition=M12&Print=1

Furnace of Wrath = http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewCard_Popup.aspx?CardName=Furnace%20of%20Rath&Edition=10E&Print=1

Gratuitous Violence = http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewCard_Popup.aspx?CardName=Gratuitous%20Violence&Edition=ONS&Print=1

thankx for the comment ill check out your decks when I get a chance and as for your suggestions great cards they are more cornerstone cards tho and they mana cost is too much for me unfortunatly I can't see taking anything out for them nor do I feel they fit the theme but maybe for a multiplayer game some time and sideboard them like you said

Desperate Ritual is strictly better than Pyretic Ritual, since you can splice effects to gain even more mana. I would replace them as soon as you can.

Other than that, what about Kiln Fiend or Empty the Warrens? Both benefit a lot from your rituals, and Kiln Fiend doesn't even need any mana during the turns you 'go off' with your rituals for a storm card.

I agree with the ritual just waiting to buy dome so I can put it in here and I think I can get some empty the warrens in here too great advice thx

Looking at your deck, I see no sources requiring blue mana whatsoever. If that's the case than wouldn't the boilerworks coming in tapped just slow you down?

if this was a consistently fast deck then yes it would slow me down but its a land that makes 2 mana and could help me in games I'm not getting enough land seeing how I have a lot of cards that cost a lot plus I can also try a blue red dragonstorm deck one day too ;)
