Playing simic land destruction for a while I was really able to see its faults. This fairs much better because it doesn't rely on coating to do anything.
Arbor Elf+Utopia Sprawl for quite a chunk of mana especially early on! Coating is used minimally and it's there because Splinter is simply too powerful! You can turn a basic land into an artifact then remove every one of that name from the game!
