Deck Description

Was just browsing cards at work and came up with this deck. Not sure how it would work but it does look kinda fun.

*NOTE*: I'm going to need some help with the sideboard so please leave suggestions.

How to Play

Ramp into a turn 3 Master Biomancer, then turn 4 play Wolfir Silverheart paired with Biomancer and give all your creatures huge buffs. The deck can run just as well if Master Biomancer doesn't hit.

I was thinking about her for sure but she wont hurt my deck as well?

I wouldn't mind slowing down control but also I don't want to hurt my deck too much. I'll give her a few runs. Maybe I can replace some of the spells in my deck with more creatures when I sideboard.

Came up with this sideboard off the top of my head. Only thing I don't like about it is that it has nothing against flashback/reanimator.

I don't see Groundseal that useful with all the draw the deck already has. Sphinx's Revelation, Jace, Garruk, and Zegana provide awesome card advantage. Not sure about that one.

Type your deck name...I looked up Skylasher and I love it. In this deck it would be bigger than a 2/2 with the given abilities.

I think you should run farseek, with a curve like this you want 8-10 ramp spells. I'd say 4 pilgrim 4 farseek and maybe two gyre sage if you have room, but ensuring a turn 3 biomancer is vital. After playing a rug version of this since February, I've tweaked the mana a lot and decided on 11 ramp spells with success, especially considering that mana dorks will be 3/3s for one past turn 3. Gyre sage is probably the least important ramp here, he only helps after you get creatures out; you want ramp that takes effect before your bombs drop. Dropping jace and gyre sage for more room seems sensible. Also, wolfir silverheart may be a better 5 drop than thragtusk. T3 biomancer into turn 4 silverheart gives you a 6/8, 10/10, and 6 counters to every new creature. Even if you don't drop tusky, maybe dropping increasing savagery for the wolfir would be better. I mean at least he can attack too. Really fun looking deck though, master biomancer is always a fun card. Good luck :)

I was thinknig the same about Wolfir. If I take out Thragtusk then maybe I can take out Restoration Angel since that is the only thing worth bouncing unless Prime Speaker is out. Also I was looking to take out Garruk over Jace since Jace can filter the deck better and doesn't cost as much mana.

Might I suggest progenitor mimic? It's especially useful for this build both in terms of stealing your buddies' creatures and with Biomancer.

Yea I did some test runs. I prefer Angel of Serenity over the Mimic. Let me know what you think I should take out for MImic or if I should even put Mimic in here.

Sorry bout the late reply - I'd say one advent for a mimic, maybe? Perhaps the Prime Speaker could get cut down to 1 also. Another good choice there would be a Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - I'd sub her for one of your advents for sure.

0
Posted 04 July 2013 at 18:29

I also saw nobody mentioned Armada Wurm - so there's that as an option also - I couldn't tell you what to sub him for though, your curve would suffer any which way you go.

drop the pilgrims for farseeks. any green should be running thrags and farseeks. the best green cards in the format. the pilgrim doesnt really help with anything and dies to removal. only thing it does is a potential T2 smiter. but thats not really what your deck is about.

0

Kinda don't want to remove Avacyn's Pilgrim. I do still want to put in Farseek but I really don't wanna take pilgrim out. It does waay more than provide a turn 2 Smiter.

and sideboard cards for control are counter magic and Rest in Peace. since your deck has no interaction with the graveyard, RIP exiling everything would be better then ground seal. in a world of acidic slimes RIP is better then ground seal. i would also run another aethering in the SB vs control and 1-2 caverns main or 1 main 1 SB to make sure you stick your aetherlings. once you land that guy he is unkillable aslong as you make sure your keeping blue mana up. bant decks have a much better advantage running aetherling because they have more mana to commit to it, farseeks, so you are able to race other aetherling decks and win. take out the thalias. yea they are decent but not good enough in this shell.

Dropped 1 Increasing Savagery and 1 Gyre Sage. Took out Thragtusk and Restoration Angel and put in Wolfir Silverheart. Added in 4 Farseek. So 10 sources in the deck help me ramp up mana. Kept Garruk and Jace in as well.

I'll do a test run of it this way. I love Thragtusk but Wolfir provides another way to buff up Biomancer with his buff. Or if the deck isn't running that particular way I can pair him with Prime Speaker and get some massive card advantage. It's a touch choice but I'll just have to see what I like better.

Yup. Here's my RUG list, I know it isn't your colors but we have the same general game plan. The curve and ramp line up wonderfully and after months testing different numbers it really works. Hopefully it can help, biomancer is still the centerpiece. 3 thrag and 3 wolfir is definitely smart.

Want to keep at least 1 Increasing Savagery just cause I like that card in here. I don't mind dropping 1 Wolfir either. I'll try playtesting with 2 Thragtusks and 1 Increasing Savagery then I'll try it with 3 Thragtusks and no Increasing Savagery. See how it runs. Thanks everyone for your input.

Took out Gyre Sage and Increasing Savagery for Arbor Elf. Don't like that Gyre Sage can't add in mana on its own. Took out one Loxodon Smiter for one Thragtusk.

i would take out some of the higher cost creatures and add in creatures like geist of saint traft, restoration angel, and silverblade paladin. i played a deck like this with those cards in it and it worked well.

0

Why would I take out higher cost creatures when I have mana ramp? I'd rather have Wolfir over Silverblade because Wolfir can pump up Master Biomancer. As for Geist of Saint Traft, that idea could work because Geist would come up bigger than a 2/2. I'll try to fit him into the board if I can't main deck him. I had Restoration Angel in the deck before but I took her out. She would be nice to have but really the only thing I would want to target with her is Thragtusk. If I target Prime Speaker Zegana, I'd be getting mass card advantage but I'd also be practically milling myself.

Thanks for the Geist of Saint Traft Idea. In this deck it is awesome. The angel that comes in with Geist will get a buff thanks to Master Biomancer.

I've tried this similar build in the past and it fails miserably against everything UNLESS you draw perfect , the huge downsides are too reliant on ramp , one board sweep and it has no recovery really , and it is limited to alternate conditions, I changed mine to more mid range flash spell type running 4 of each charm in bant (Azor, Seles, and simic) , 4 voice of resurgence , 4 Biomancers , 3 geist of st traft , 4 advent of the wurm , 4 snapcaster mage, and 3 sphinx rev , 2 prime speaker to top the curve at 6 then 24 land (3 caverns) with all the options those charms provide it makes this deck very competitive given snapcaster can abuse them and everyone likes a 4/3 snapcaster lol , the sideboard substituted more control hate cards like Thalia, dispels, negates , blind obedience , a trostani , yeva , and some other spells to save your board

I used proxies and it went pretty well against my control deck. How does it have no recovery against board sweep? Just don't over exert yourself and burn your hand quickly which if you're playing control you know not to do that. Only thing I'd change is putting Simic Charm in the main deck rather then Selesnya Charm to protect my creatures. I can see the benefits from putting in Voice of Resurgence but I don't have any and honestly if I did I wouldn't put him in the deck nor any deck I had just because he's in every green deck around and it's annoying. I wouldn't mind Snapcaster in here but I'd have to change the entire deck around.

EDIT: Although I'm still not liking Garruk in here. Going to try the deck out with 4 Jace and then see if I can sub anything in. AEtherling may go in the sideboard or come out completely cause the six drop is crowded up a bit. Thanks for your input. I have some ideas for changes now.

I switched some things around.
1. I took out Garruk, Primal Hunter and added in a third Jace, Architect of Thought and a fourth Master Biomancer
2. Took out AEtherling and Angel of Serenity for 2 Restoration Angel

I felt that my six drop was crowded with Prime Speaker Zegana, Garruk, and AEtherling. I may add AEtherling back in but I'm liking the tempo of the deck so far. I am trying very hard to fit in a 3rd Simic Charm. I'm also pondering between Restoration Angel/Loxodon Smiter.
