Deck Description

Original deck primer gotten here: https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=24283&d=369529&f=MO

I have been into the modern format for quite a while now but I have not been posting on this account because I forgot all the information to it. Today though, I was able to log in! I decided to post my current UW control list that I am running, although it has changed quite a bit from an older control build, UW Miracles, and now to what we have here now. UW doesn't really do too well in modern but I still have fun with it since it's my favorite deck archtype. I also added a few of my own changes to the original primer, obviously. Please feel free to comment on it or add any ideas you may have regarding it.

How to Play

Typical control build here in the modern format. It has some issues with certain decks though such as Jund, Eldrazi Tron, and Storm. That is where the sideboard comes into play though. Surgical Extraction gets rid of any annoying threats that storm, tron, or the other combo decks rely on so much. Runed Halo also assists with this once you name that one annoying card that most of those decks rely on so much. Timely Reinforcements should for sure come in against jund or any other midrange/aggro decks, especially Naya Burn or 8 Whack as it can set them back entire turns with the life gain as well as provide blockers to hold back the aggro and allow you to dig for answers. I went with Baneslayer Angel and Lyra Dawnbringer just because I like both of them and have always felt they are decent finishers in the deck when put in against aggro/midrange. Usually burn can't stop them and if you get one or two swings in with them you're too far ahead in life for them to recover. They also provide decent pressure when going against Scapeshift decks as well. Ashiok is a nice toolbox card that should come in on a good variety of decks although I'm not quite sure which ones she would affect the most. Scapeshift I know wouldn't like her static ability of not letting them search their library as the deck ramps a lot by wanting to search the library for a land or for Valakut. Also storm decks wouldn't like the minus ability of them losing their graveyard. Ceremonius Rejection is in here as a one of and is specifically for Eldrazi Tron which is a deck that UW just does bad against. If your opponent is running this deck, odds are it won't end well for you. It's just one of those decks that UW doesn't beat often.
