Deck Description

I've tried to replicate a Pod deck within Standard. Hopefully Yisan works well. Yisan can tutor up creatures, and Chord of Calling for maximum tutoring.

Deck discussion for Pseudo-Pod: Coming to Standard

I thought the main thing about pod was the merira, persist combo thing...

But this deck does look good. :)

Yeah that is the main combo, but often they win just because the creatures are good, too. Just trying to emulate what I can. Thanks for the comment!

Right, I'm not the most clued-up standard player (as a caveat before I say this) but: I'm struggling to see how this deck wins. Is it tutoring out the control creatures and waiting for Garruk to show up?

You got it. Thinking about this I may want to add 1 more Garruk, or maybe some more aggressive creatures. Thanks!

Still, don't underestimate the power of weenies :P

Just added a reaper of the wilds for a more aggressive 4-drop, but yeah the idea is just that the creatures offer the control, so that you have the better board presence and win just through beat-stickery/Garruk.

Pod-Bard is pretty cool, but I don't think he'll do anything until after super-standard rotates.

//This card is bonkers.
+X Hornet Nest

//with Bard in play, you can activate, untap, activate in response and both triggers let you go get a bigger dude.
(+X Triton Tactics or other untap effect)

Bard is NOT pod, 1) he has summoning sickness, 2) he dies to removal, and 3) he's instant speed. The decks that make him work will be the ones to correctly keep all 3 of those things in mind.

thanks for the input! I'll try to think of cards that will maximize the instant speed capabilities.
