Deck discussion for Can't Touch This (M14)(Stndrt)

I don't typically play this color combo, but I may just try this! I'm digging it!

Unflinching courage is arguably the best standard enchantment in these colors, you should test it out for sure

thanks for the suggestion. i try this replacing with blessing

Another good enchantment to consider is Spectral Flight.

i know this card too, and zephyr charge is most useful in late game i think. but thank you for suggestion =)

I laugh at the fact that you put in 20 copies of 4 in this deck :P

Good deck! Maybe you'd want more defense in this deck because aggro decks can just kill you in turn 4 so maybe a boardwipe?

Unflinching Courage counters aggro pretty well and allows you to race.

imposign sovereign is useful for haste decks. but thank you for suggestion

Oh my bad, I meant 15 copies of 4.

Righteous Authority?

I would definitely include Unflinching Courage as the others said. I am not very fond of the Abundant Growth as it does not grant any acceleration, I would use Farseeks (one more land early on, and can look for shocklands). Also I would run 3 Geist, 4 is to much for a legendary creature (as two in hand is a dead draw).
If you have time check my bant modern aura deck, same colors different format: http://www.mtgvault.com/kajuata/decks/bant-modern-auras/

you run 4 geist. he is NEVER a dead draw. having one in your hand allows you to attack into ground blockers and get 4 damage across without worrying about him dying. he is also fairly easy to kill, despite being hexproof. If you run Geist, you run 4.

No Silence? Its an awesome tempo card, causes them to not cast spells for a turn for W. Would be good in sideboard for mirror or aggro decks.

i didn't choice instants expect ray of revelation... for aggro decks i have imposign foreign.. still thank you for suggestion =)

1.You desperatelly need removal. Pacifism, Oblivion Ring, or Detention Sphere to work with Ethereal Armor.
2.I cant believe you missed Unflinching Courage, one of the best auras out there
3.Instead of Fiendslayer I like Sigarda, Auramancer or even Ajani's Chosen more (each with different purpose).
4.Spectral Flight is superior to Blessing
5.You can afford some basic lands with Abundant Growth.
6.Its too expensive, all the shocklands, full playset of Geists (2 or 3 tops should do, its legendary), this will suck you dry :-)

oh, so you are just stirring up things so people check out your deck? how do you figure your boros deck beats a Bant Hexproof deck?

Edit: that Boros deck doesnt look very strong. It looks like you threw leftover cards together.
http://www.mtgvault.com/ninjastyle612/decks/boros-aggro-t2/

this Boros deck took 5th in a 75 player PTQ. and would not beat my own Bant Hexproof deck.

by turn 5, i can do 20 plus points of damage.
whats he going to have out by then? a few 1/1s and probably a 3/3...

OMG. you should go work on your own deck before criticizing other peoples. THIS deck that we are commenting on IS 100% for sure BANT.

HIS deck needs work. it is, as it says, a prototype to keep the hexproof deck alive in standard after M14 drops. it needs counters, it needs removal. YOU said that ANY boros or R?G aggro owns THIS TYPE of deck, and youre wrong. flat out. Well built Bant Hexproof is the fastest deck in standard. I can deal lethal on turn 3.

1
Posted 17 July 2013 at 00:07

most successful bant decks have removal. at least, some sort of removal/control. this has none, zero, nada.. gets owned by aggro decks.

-1
Posted 17 July 2013 at 00:07

no removal doesnt mean it gets owned, it means its a race. it completely nullifies your removal, and makes you beat it in a flat out sprint. you win some, he wins some.

my deck also is 200$ less than his. and can beat his. your point is invalid

-1
Posted 17 July 2013 at 00:09

you havent invalidated any of my points. you said ANY boros or RG beats this TYPE of deck, and it doesnt. youre wrong. theres a reason your deck has a budget price: good players dont play with bad cards.

0

what/who dictates what is a bad card?

0
Posted 17 July 2013 at 00:14

Wow, I thought this deck lacked some strong enchantments (e.g. Unflinching Courage, Spectral Flight) to be good and Boros could truly beat it, but then I saw what you posted...
I wonder how you defend against:
T1: Gladecover Scout
T2: Rancor + Ethereal Armor
T3: (here is where Unflinching Courage should have been) But Curiosity and second Ethereal Armor will suffice
My point is, your deck is slower.

0

my deck isnt a "budget deck". i just dont need certain cards for the strategy im doing. it so happens when building and play testing this, i didnt need those expensive cards

0

the cards themselves do that job nicely. you think theres not a reason a Thundermaw Hellkite cost $40 when it came out, but Utvara Hellkite never broke $3? Versitility. Utvara is GREAT in EDH, but almost useless in standard. Bad Card for standard.

@Zipec. Ratchet Bomb, turn 2, nuff said

-1

@ninja style, disagree, Thundermaw Hellkite is used in a certain type of deck, as Utvara hellkite is used in a different style of standard deck. both can easily be used in standard, thus making neither a bad card

that ratchet bomb thats not in your decklist? build a better deck before you come to someone elses with criticism.

and cool, you play that ratchet bomb turn 2, which slows you down even further. then you put a counter on it, waiting another turn, while he smashes you for damage, and plays another creature on T2. then you pop Bomb on your turn 3,killing off your Loyalist and his Scout, but hes still got an unblockable stalker on the board. and play a what? Frontline Medic?

you lose to a stacked up stalker, because you wasted your turn 2 on a ratchet bomb.

@xxsupernova103xx: How many copies do you run exactly? Last time I checked, there was none.
(To explain: I didnt say it can't be handeled, I just said you have no answer. You can slow him down only by siding Sundering Growth)

Children, please, calm down...both decks are good. Aggro wins quick but can easily be blocked or raced by bant enchantments. However, some aggro can just overwhelm and win anyway. As for the cards doing work by themselves, thats just boring...making a card work well means that it isn't a bad card anymore. Bottom line, if it works for you it works. Instead of insulting, suggest improvements. Stop making the community worse by arguing about stupid stuff, the site was meant to help eachother out. The actual help is just too rare on here anymore.

2

yes. youre right. they are used in different types of decks. one wins, one doesnt. I didnt say Utvara was a bad CARD, I said it was bad for standard. and it is.

@zipec: a much better answer to Bant Auras is Parasaline (sp) as it destroys all enchantments and provides lifegain.

consistent winners are better decks. how many people do you get at your FNM? do you play 3 rounds? 4? 5?

And now this is going to be on the hot decks page, and any new member is gonna see this front page deck with a long ass argument on it. Gary and Ian said themselves in the forums that THIS, what you are doing right now, is one of the biggest problems on the site. Seriously, it isn't helping. If you think that trying to change his mind is helping the community or even this deck, I'm going to have to disagree.

I stated a comment, "Any sort of boros/RG aggro owns this type of deck" you disagreed. I showed my counter statement with example, showing A boros deck(happened to be mine, could have been another or a RG aggro). then you insult my deck, and my deck making skills(by making assumptions). 'oh, so you are just stirring up things so people check out your deck? how do you figure your boros deck beats a Bant Hexproof deck?

Edit: that Boros deck doesnt look very strong. It looks like you threw leftover cards together.

And if you ignore them, they stay away. Top decks isn't (aren't?) a joke, they're included so that the site seems more active to newer users. But yeah well, I guess I can't change your mind.

0

you cant. I was here when top decks was the reason this site was failing, so they discontinued it, and it became MUCH better. now its back, and stupid troll bullshit is back with it.

0

Yeah I was here too. I'm just saying, the reason that they're back is because of an influx of new users. They want to make the site active and appealing to bolster the community. They're trying to get rid of trolls also. Its taking a while, but they're working on it. Best thing we can do until then is ignore them.
