Deck Description

A lockdown deck on a budget. Using stagnating mist to lockdown the board. Using someone else's idea and adjusting it a bit.

Deck discussion for Cheap Lockdown

I like this deck but its missing a kill strategy. The only really card meant for killing that I see is the Ebony Owl and that might kill them. I would suggest something big with flying or maybe stormtide Leviathan. Other then that awesome idea!

Thanks, I've swapped out the owl for the leviathan.

Not a bad pauper deck. Perhaps instead of using only two swamps, you could use a cheap dual land like Jwar Isle Refuge since things will be coming in tapped anyhow.

Nice idea, but that means I can't get a swamp with the bauble and rely on the draw for black mana.

Expedition Map allows you to search for any land if only fetching it is your concern. I think I prefer to be able to put it in play immediately rather than my hand though, so the bauble is probably better.

Hi there BeastofBod.

This deck is shaping up pretty nicely. I have some suggestions for you to consider.

In this decks current state I feel like you aren't making very good use of black. Planar Void is great for your strategy but if its the only black card your using I don't think its worth it. I would either make this deck mono blue or I would add in a lot more black.
If you go mono blue then put in Relic of Progenitus which is a great graveyard killer or can get rid of single cards.
This deck is also screaming for Web of Inertia.
Mental Note can also be very good instead of either preordain or ponder since it helps get cards into your graveyard for Mist of Stagnation.
I would also like to suggest Inkwell Leviathan as a win condition, the shroud really helps make sure he sticks around.
You could also throw in Academy Ruins as back up to return Wayfarer's Bauble, Tormod's Crypt, Orb of Dreams or even inkwell Leviathan or Relic of Progenitus. (it is a little expensive however.)
Its also expensive but if you leave this mono blue I think you need a second win condition, preferably from Jace. Either Adept or Mindsculptor.
Other considerations for mana fixing or win condition if you keep black could be Creeping tar pit.
I am also a big fan of Riptide Shapeshifter to help sneak out a big creature, with it you can consider an eldrazi like Kozilek, Ulamog, Emrakul, or on the cheap side It That Betrays.

Lastly if you would rather add more black that opens up the door for Gravestorm and you can look up Gravestorm lockdown/control for more ideals there, here is an example.

Hope some of those suggestions help and good luck with the deck!
