Deck Description

Green and black Assassin deck built around Vraska's ultimate.

The thing i'm trying to go for in this deck is to get Vraska out on the field and to have her Assassins finish off the player.

To get the most out of Vraska's ultimate I put the following cards in this deck. Parallel lives, Whispersilk cloaks, Lure and Rogue's passage.

For the lure I put in 5 Indestructible Creatures into the deck 4 Predator oozes because they get stronger with each attack and kill and a Stuffy doll to deal damage to the player.

If the lure doesn't come out I put in whispersilks and Rogue's passageways to make it so they are unblockable so I can get them through that way as well.

Parallel lives was added in to double the number of Assassins dropped by Vraska's Ultimate.

I removed Elves from this deck because they seemed to bog down the whole idea of the deck. I tried to use them to work with the parallel lives but I've gotten feedback that recommends against it.

Royal assaassins added to keep with the theme and to act as a deterrent.

Treasured find was put into this deck incase Vraska gets killed before her ultimate gets executed.

Putrefy was put into this deck for removal against regeneration creatures. Golgari Charm added in as a recommendation to deal with sweeping spells.

Added Cultivate for mana ramp.

Diabolic tutor was added so i can quickly pull out whats needed to get my Assassins through to the player to finish the game.

I'm Trying to cover all my bases with making sure Vraska gets her ultimate off and achieving the goal of having the Assassins win the game for me.

I like how lure and the unblockable work towards that goal. Over all I think it looks pretty good.

I got a suggestion to add in Thousand-Year Elixir... I think it's a pretty good idea considering that Royal Assassin is a major player in this deck. I've played some rounds with this deck and it works pretty well. I've noticed that my Parallel lives isn't really making things better for my deck. Even though getting up to 12 assassins at once is an appealing concept the card just seems to draw away from other spells that i could be casting and by the time vraska's ready to drop her bomb I've got my lure attached to a indestructible or a rogues passage or whispersilk at the ready to make them unblockable anyway.

Rathi Trapper is another card they mentioned. It combo's well with the Royal and Elixir and can make for great creature removal. I'm not sure what i would take out to fit them in though.

I've noticed that Golgari charm and other -1 abilities are a bane to this deck considering most of my creatures are usually 1 in strength. I'm not sure on how i'm going to work around that exploit yet.

If you can see anything that could be done to make it better or have any suggestions I'd love to hear them. I want to make this deck as good as I can make it and any idea's are more then appreciated.

Thanks :D

Deck discussion for Vraska's Unblockable Assassins

Main problem i see with this deck is you are trying to cover too many bases. Also you have way to many singles for you to be drawing constantly for your win condition.

So firstly I would say you need to find a faster and more efficient way to get to you win.

I would say add in some ramp, so you will be able to pull out swamps and forests (Rangers path and farseek are awesome here)
I would also swap diabolic tutor for something more worthwhile such as Increasing Ambition or Diabolic Revelation.
Additionally you need some sweep protection, most Sweeps are "destroy all creatures" so Golgari Charm would completely counter that.

I will probably post more suggestions in a bit but i have to be somewhere. I like the idea though, keep it up! :D

i agree with drespar you need to get rid of some of your elf creatures...remember this isnt an elf deck its a vraska ultimate deck. and it wouldnt hurt to put more of her in there the does revolve around her. also i love the indestructible lure idea...however because stuffy doll isnt the base here you should just have it split between myr and ooze they dont cost much and they are useful. but great deck idea i like it.

Thanks for the input I only have one Vraska right now i'll add more when I get the money. That's why I added the Diabolic tutors and the Treasured finds so I can get her out and so I can bring her back if i lose her.

Which elves do you think are unnecessary? Should i focus more on just the indestructible creatures? I figured the elves would be a good way to protect Vraska which is why i decided to put them in there in the first place. :3

Another question, is this for Modern, Extended, Standard? Id assume Extended, but I want to be certain before I start suggesting things

I try to keep my decks modern. I don't play tournaments or competitively. I mainly just play casually with friends so I'm not incredibly worried about format.

Thanks for the input. I'll see what I can do with it. I appreciate the feedback. I put the elves in to play off of the Parallel lives since I felt it would be wasted if it was only in there to double the assassins Vraska makes.

I'll look into those card suggestions and see what I can do with them. :D

Well if you are running just modern, Drop in some Overgrown Tombs, and some Woodland Cemetarys. That will help your mana base a bit.

I would actually recommend dropping the elf route all together, It kind of takes away from the overall goal of the deck.

And in their place drop in a few cards like Rangers Path, Farseek, and Golgari Charm.

I would also suggest dropping the Myr, and actually adding more Predator Oozes, Enchanting it with Lure will be more than enough to just start wiping their board.

This deck has real potential, just needs more consistency :D

Yeah the deathtouch with the predator ooze and the lure would be devastating to a creature heavy deck. The myr doesn't do a whole lot I just thought he'd be a good decoy for cheap when It came time for the assassins to come out.

I love the Golgari Charm recommendation It is kind of versatile and sweeping is a concern which can mess up my entire game.

I thought the Tutors would be good because they're cheaper so I went with them. If i put in some more ramp I can see how the others would be more beneficial. Do you think Cultivate would be a good choice for some mana ramp?

Cultivate is nice, but the positive with Farseek and Rangers path is that they say the TYPE of land, not BASIC land, this means that you can actually pull out Overgrown Tomb (its marked as both swamp AND forest).

But cultivate is good, but i feel that restricting you to basic lands might not be such a good thing. But maybe swaping farseek for cultivate would be beneficial as it will slim your deck down a little more giving you a better chance to draw what you need :)

Yeah I didn't think about those points. I figured cultivate was nice because it let me pull out two at a time for 3 mana. I didn't take into account that it can help me slim the deck down so I can get to the good stuff quicker. Right now all I have is one woodland cemetery and i'm on a budget so I can't add in the overgrown at least not for a little bit.

I might stick with Cultivate just for budgeting reason for now since i have a bunch of them on hand and I don't have the funding to get the overgrown tombs as of now. I may adjust it later when I get the cards.

Why do you have only one Parallel Lives? When there should be at least two... So you can ave 4x the amount of tokens you were supposed to have lol. GG bro

I'm thinking maybe I should add something into this deck that gives the predator ooze deathtouch.

not to bad, i tend to try and keep my decks standard or at least extended.. here is my Vraska deck. let me know what you think. All critters are Deathtouch, used to clear the board. and i run with 4 rogues passage

Well, about the deathtouch for the Ooze, there is Deadly Allure, which is (B)/flashback (G) and gives a creature of your choice deathtouch and must be blocked, but not by all or target specific. There is also necrobite, deathtouch + regenerate shield. Also, I am guessing you will add more Vraskas when you find them, or have more money, or something, because having only two of them and still adding two Parallel Lives is not efficient. Move a few cards from main deck to sideboard to cut them down to 60 and increase the land count to around, say, 23. The sorceries and Rangers for example could be reduced to 3 copies each. Overall, I like the idea very much. Come by and check my standart deck:

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see what I can do with it. I don't know if I can fit deathtouch into this deck but If i can i'll look into your suggestions.

I'm still tweaking things trying to make it perfect 23 lands would be nice but I'm getting to the point where i'm having a hard time choosing what to keep and what to toss. I'll see how I can rework things and hopefully I can get it just right.

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. I'll also check out your decks as well. ^_^

Ok so I realize I am little late on the feedback for this deck, but here is some all the same, First things first Drop the thousand year elixir, the damnation and asceticism. and put in 2 Doubling Season and 2 Parallel Lives. Both of those give increased token production, and Doubling Season, would make Vraska come out with 10 loyalty, making it possibly to ultimate her the turn she comes in to play, and still keep her alive. Not to mention the added effect of whenever Predator Ooze attacks he would get 2 +1/+1 counters, the same goes for his second ability of when a creature dies. as for the Deathtouch aspect, the only thing I can give you for that, is Venomous Fangs, it is a old creature enchantment that grants the creature Deathtouch,

Hope this was helpful.
