Deck Description

I'm trying to get a friend into magic, and therefore I want a cheap deck that can still allow him to compete.
I'm building to a budget, as you can see.
I'm basically after opinions:
-Maybe blue isn't neccescary, after all there's devotion stuff
-Is this just going to get flattened?
-If you would take out blue, what red should go in? Maybe fanatic of mogis and frostburn weirds to kick up devotion? Or just crank up the burn?
-Sideboard? I'm thinking look to blue and throw in some stuff to deal with more complicated threats (Cyclonic Rift etc).

Any and all advice is appreciated.

How to Play

It's pretty simple, get down the creatures and let loose with the burn.

Deck discussion for R/U Budget Burn

Seems verily decent. Maybe add Lightning Bolts instead Lighting Strike. And i would add Brainstorm or Ponder so your friend can find the right card that he needs; which will speed the deck up. I love the creatures that you picked! All are very cheap to cast, and all of them have added abilities. Nice.

I probably should have mentioned, it's a standard deck so those are a no. I do see what you mean about speeding it up though.

this deck has a very small mana curve, i would definately take out 2 land and add 2 mizzium mortars.

Agree with this. Don't see this deck ever needing 22-23 lands.

Turn // Burn, Archaeomancer, Spellheart Chimera, Fluxcharger, Negate, Essence Scatter, or just fill in the cards you are missing a playset of in your Main Deck , ie x1 Flames of the Firebrand, x1 Izzet Charm, x2 Quicken.

80 dollars is definitely not "Budget"

It started at 40, and that was with the steam vents in.
And $80 is a reasonable budget when a playset of a good card can sit at more than a $100, and then you can be running 3 different good cards.

20-40 dollars is a good budget. You can make a lot cheaper burn without the expensive cards. Dual lands are a luxury to dual-coloured decks, you don't NEED them.

You have 3 izzet charms in the main deck and 3 more in the sideboard lol. Not really sure if goblin electromancer fits here either. All of the spells are pretty cheap anyways. Maybe some bounce (voyage's end/ cyclonic rift) and a couple nivix cyclops instead? Other then that, nice standard deck.

Thanks for pointing out the sideboard error xD
I see what you mean about the Electromancer's, Cyclonic Rift is a definite good choice, if not for the main then definitely the side, but I wasn't sure on price so I didn't throw it in.
