Deck Description

As always this is a multiplayer deck that is non EDH. I saw Heartmender and knew I had to make a deck out of it. Remove one-one counters, goes excellent with other persist creatures. Pair this with some mass board wipe, and now you are cooking.

How to Play

Heartmender is a key creature as it mean that your creatures that return with persist can easily have counters removed. Obviously the persist mechanic is achieved with Cauldron of Souls and Cauldron Haze.

Fleecemane LIon is great as for 2 mana you get a respectable 3/3 creature. And later you can upgrade him and make him really awesome and able to survive a board wipe without any help. Moreover, he will have hexproof and the only thing that gets rid of him are an exile all or a sacrifice mechanic.

Qasali Pridemage works great with persist as it can come back over and over to take care of any pesky artifacts or enchantments. On top of that he is a 2/2 for a green and white mana, which stacks nicely with Wilt-Leaf Liege. And speaking of the Liege, he makes most of your creatures get +2/+2. Add to that he's not legendary so this stacks. Your creatures can get pretty big fast.

Skyshooter is a nice deterrent for creatures with flying from attacking you, or he can serve as a chump blocker and return with persist. The same thing for Silhana and she also gives you a little mana boost. And I added an Oracle for a little needed Life-gain.

Wrath of God's use is pretty obvious, but the rout is meant to be used at instant speed. You do this right before your turn, that way when it is your turn, your creatures will all return with persist, no longer have summoning sickness, and have their -1/-1 counters removed from your Heartmender.

Shield of the Oversoul is fabulous in this deck as it solidifies a major weakness (lack of flyers) all the while giving most of your creatures +2/+2 and indestructible. Imagine this stacked with your Liege!

The Final piece of the puzzle Oran-Rief. They just make your creatures bigger as they come onto the battlefield with persist.

Also, Kitchenfinks is a viable option in this deck that would work better than the Oracle of Nectars or a few other cards, but I can't come to spending the cash on a set of 3-4. They would be a nice addition, but not a stud in the deck, or necessary for it to be effective, so I left it out.

Deck discussion for That Thing....AGAIN!

As I said in the blue deck, I can't decide which you should keep/buy. Personally I prefer this one because it has non-standard theme, however, most of the cards like central Heartmender will rarely be used outside this deck.

* Did you know that +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters cancel each other out? This means that any creature that comes into play with +1/+1 counters would trade one for the -1/-1 counter from persist. So, there are hundreds ouf creatures out there that you could add that don't even need Heartmender, for example those with Graft, the phantoms, Modular etc. Now, if they also have an in-built sacrifice outlet ... here some nice choices:
- Spike Feeder
- Spike Weaver
(note that the Spikes can transfer their counters to other creatures and therefore negate their persist counter)
- Fertilid
- Triskelion, Tetravus, Triskelavus
- Mikaeus, the Lunarch (saves all your other creatures at once)
- Gyre Sage instead of Silhana Starfletcher

* In this deck I would consider one of the following instad of Oracle of Nectars:
- Arctic Nishoba
- Radiant's Dragoons
- Ravenous Baloth

* Austere Command gives you more flexibility than Wrath. It's 2 more mana, but you run 4 Wrath effects, you can probably afford to repalce at least one.

* If you can afford it: Yavimaya Hollow is a great addition to any creature deck that runs green.

* Since the Cauldron is reuseable, I'd run 4 of them and 3 Haze instead of 3/4.

Thanks for all the advice! I've been busy this weekend, but I'm going to fine tune all the decks per your advice and make a final decision. I think I'm agreeing with you though on this or the blue deck. There is something about the blue deck though, but I actually found some other nice cards to trade, so I may be able to make both! Thanks again for the great advice.

Ok, Ive tweaked this deck. I love the idea of a spike weaver, but I have 2 decks that use Spike Weaver so I decided against it.

Ive added the Arctic Nishoba, its a bit expensive to cast, but its powerful and has trample and can add some nice life. I'm not totally sold on it though, I'm thinking fertilid over it. I love the idea of that card in this deck, but dropping the Nishoba means losing my only life gain method, Thoughts?

One thing it did do is make me aware that I need a trample mechanic in here though, so I added the cytospawn shambles and 2 rancor. (also dropped the land that made a 3/4 g/w creature with reach) What do you think?

I took your advice on the Gyre Sage, Mikaeus, Austere Command, and Cauldron. I went a step further and dropped one more Cauldron Haze to make room for some others. Also dropped one heartmender.
