Deck Description

This is my Control deck that I use for FNM. I have used it once so far and to my surprise, I didn't get beat. My first run at FNM had me facing top tier decks including 2 other U/W control decks, B/G Ramp, U/G Frost Titan Ramp.

Match 1: ObNixilis was the problem. My opponent was killing me good, but thanks to Voilition Reins I took a Wurmcoil Engine and held on to pull a draw.

Record: 0-0-1

Match 2: U/W control was countering good against me and my opponent got the Mindsculptor in play in the second game. I let him get it to 13 counters, then I used Voilition Reins to take it and Mindsculpt him with his Jace.

Record: 1-0-1

Match 3: G/U Frost Titan Ramp. Pretty lopsided match up. He copied one of my Oracles 10 times, but still lost.

Record: 2-0-1

Match 3: Another control. This guy really got mad when he realized my deck was pretty budget and I was standing toe to toe. It ends in a draw.

Final Record: 2-0-2

I will Update this every Friday so everyone can see how it is doing. Feel free to throw card ideas at me and I will try them out.

Deck discussion for Semi-Budget U/W Control

Hmm... Well, I can see how you're holding them off, though I get twitchy seeing one/two-of's of good cards. That may just be me, though.

I think you're running enough dual-colored lands that the Evolving Wilds is unnecessary. Replace it with a fourth Tec Edge, or maybe even a Mystifying Maze, if you can get one. On the note of speed, though, you might want to bring the Seachrome Coast down by one or two. It's a great early game card, but after the first few turns it will only slow you down. Throw in another basic Plains for stability. :)

On the note of stability, seeing only one Deprive on that list HURTS. Since Tumble Magnet, while useful, seems like a throw-in card, take it out for a second Deprive. Better to deny them the card at all then to just tap it down temporarily. ^.~

BTW, THANK YOU for running Purges in your board. I'm frankly surprised how few decks I see running it and I can't fathom why. Also, thank you for reminding me of Revoke Existance, I have to go replace the Divine Offerings in my board now. XD

Last, I have to ask, what situation has you siding in the Luminarch Ascensions?

And, because I read that you would go back and look over a deck...

:D The perspective of a "budget" player is exactly what I would like.
