by bjj007 on 11 September 2012

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Deck discussion for Gain ALL the LIFE

I would suggest healer of the pride, or Ajani's pridemate for late game damage dealing. Check out my decks!

ill be quite frank with you. never have i seen a life gaining deck be ultimately competitive. casual it will work just fine but as for tournament quality i dont see it ever making it against teir 1 decks.

on a side note, serra avatar is a must have if you are gaining life. P/T = to your life total.

Wanting to get your decks to be tournament worthy is fine but it's not that simple. For example a pure life gain deck is really hard to be so well-rounded.

You are very open to fast decks. There are infect decks that can win the game by round 3.There are elf decks that can summon 30 elves in round 3-4 and win no matter your life. And many more fast decks. All you can do by round 3 on the other hand is get 3 lands down and summon a planeswalker or gain 1 life...

The other thing about life gain decks is they dont really have a winning strategy.Your goal is to gain as much life as possible. But how do you intend to win?Summoning all your angels and attack?that would take 20 rounds.Serra avatar?7 rounds.Cat tokens?8 rounds. What you are probably thinking is that you can last many rounds cause your life will be high. But be sure that if you let a tournament deck do its job w/o any interruption or pressure you will either take a 2k life attack at round 5 or face some jin-jitaxis like creature at round 3.So goodbye victory.

My siggestions:Find 1 way you want to win in.AoJ and EA are too random cards, try replacing them with cheap angels/defenders.4 serra avatars is useless.Find a card that gives serra trample and use 2-3 or maybe find a card that summons/brings to hand a white creature and use 1 only. You never want 4 70/70 creatures down.Spending 7 mana on a second avatar means you have no mana to gain life, which could make your 1st avatar go +30/30.Plus you dont want her in you initial hand, that sucks.

That's about it.

To keep it life gain based and still be competitive. I'm not sure if she's standard but soul warden would help and to slow your opponents maybe go with Gideon lawkeeper and Gideon avenger. You can afford to drop a couple plains maybe add a couple gather the townsfolk also. Just trying to help I agree that it's to slow to be competitive with top tier tournament decks. Check out my decks when you get a chance

Since you did ask to see if this could be made standard, I hate to tell you that pure life gain just isn’t possible without some support/a Plan B. I’m noticing the whole life gain theme going on, but there isn’t anything protecting you or your field. Now it may be plausible if you throw in another color to help not only with the life gain, but maybe put some pressure on the opponent. Green and Blue have always gone hand in hand with White and Green is right up the alley with life gain. Green also helps with the mana accel. and buffing creatures/having big creatures.

As for the cards you already picked, im going to say just stop using half of them, they’re very dependent on life or dependent on living long enough. Cut the Emancipation Angels, Serra Avatars, 3 Rhox Faithmender, 3 Goldnight Redeemer, 2 Angel of Jubilation, all of the Ajani, 3 of the Elixirs, 3 Chalice of Life, all the Seraph Sanctuaries and the Scrolls.

That doesn’t leave you much of the original deck you have, but it leaves room for cards like: Cathedral sanctifier, Duskdale wurm, deadly recluse, giant growth, Divine Favor, Farseek. Rancor. The list goes on and on.

Don’t stop tinkering with it, some ideas or cards work better than others. The deck has potential for casual play.

i was actually thinking about attempting a competitive life gain deck, however i am sorry to say that alot of the cards listed just.. arent good.... remove all of the elixers, teblets, heros reunions, and cloudshifts, remove 1 serra avatar. add cards that will work with trostani, armada wurm is a good choice, or tree of redemtion. replace the cloudshifts with restoration angels, youre grasping the concept, its just not all there.
