Deck Description

This is a red-white deck. It borrows a few cards from the Boros clan, but also boasts a few strategies of its own. The deck focuses on making quick attacks while raising your life, whether to a large amount or recovering the tiny damage that your opponent may place upon you.

A common found in the deck is the Soul Warden. Any time a creature enters the battlefield, you gain 1 life (this includes your opponent's creatures). In addition to the two Soul Wardens, the deck also has an Angel's Feather, which gives you 1 life any time a player plays a white spell. There are also two Lightning Helixes, which deal 3 points of damage to a creature or opponent and give the player 3 life. Additionally, there are two Boros Garrisons in the deck. Tapping on supplies you with both a red and a white mana, with the slight drawback of having to return a land to your hand when it enters the field. There is also Boros Signet, which adds the same mana as Boros Garrison but, instead, at the cost of one other mana.

On the offensive we have the Raging Goblin, a 1/1 creature with haste. The tiny cost makes him great for the first turn or when you manage to clear the opponent's field of creatures for a turn. Helping the two Raging Goblins is a Goblin Bushwhacker, a 1/1 creature that can be kicked for an additional +1/+0 AND haste. The Boros Guildmage also acts as an aid to the rest of the creatures in the deck when played early in the game. With a low cost of two mana (both of which can be either red or white), the player can use either of its two abilities to give other creatures haste or first strike for the turn, turning each other creature in the deck into a serious problem for the unlucky opponent. Finally, the Jawbone Skulkin can give any target red creature haste until the end of the turn for only two mana, and can be repetitively used.

Working defense for the deck is the Wall of Fire, a very cheap defender. With 0/5, most creatures early on in the game won't stand a chance; in addition, you can spend one red mana to give it +1/+0 until the end of the turn, making any unknowing attacker a problem for attacking prematurely. Also helping to defend is Glory of Warfare, an enchantment. On your turn, every creature you control gains +2/+0, and on your opponent's turn, every creature you control gains +0/+2. This tiny bonus can help in either situation.

Other notable attackers in the deck include Stormfront Pegasus (flying), Cerodon Yearling (vigilance, haste), Duergar Hedge-Mage, Hearthfire Hobgoblin (double strike), Canyon Minotaur, and Serra Angel (flying, vigilance).

The superpower of this deck lies in Balefire Liege. Balefire Liege has four abilities, each which help you to bring the game to its conclusion of you winning. The first two abilites give creatures that are either red or white that you control +1/+1. This means that any red/white creatures you control get a bonus +2/+2. These two abilities easily strengthen up your team greatly. The third ability causes a target player 3 points of damage whenever a red spell is cast. The fourth ability gives you 3 life whenever you cast a white spell. At least one of these abilities trigger almost any time you play a card from this deck, as there are very few cards in the deck that are not red or white spells.

When combined with a Soul Warden or two or an Angel's Feather, the Balefire Liege is a deadly force, and Lightning Helix deals 6 damage instead of 3 and heals for 6 life instead of 3. The burn cards of the deck (Lightning Bolt, Volcanic Hammer, and Fireball) also become amplified due to being red spells (do 6, 6, and X+3 instead of 3, 3, and X, respectively). All-in-all, the Adventurer's Challenge deck provides a great deal of challenges for both the player and the opponent.
