Deck Description

This is my Aggro Loam deck on a (relative) budget. Thus the lands are pretty basic and Confidant and Goyf aren't included.

Added Knights and Green Sun's package, testing to come soon. I need better lands to support the white splash.

Deck record as of 9/30/2013: 9-6-1

Thoughts:
Improve lands
Seems to need more removal, might move EE back to the main

How to Play

This deck runs on Life from the Loam.

-Loam + cycle lands is a powerful draw engine. If the game goes long enough, expect to draw upwards of 15 extra cards.
-Loam + Seismic Assault for serious creature control/win condition
-Loam + Devastating Dreams is basically a one-sided Wildfire when played at the correct time (very good against aggro or decks with low land counts, sometimes a game ender)
-27 lands to ensure Crusher gets huge as fast as possible
-Worm Harvest is a solid win condition thats still useful if it gets dredged. I've won three games in a row with only one copy in the deck, it is seriously good in this deck.
-Zuran Orb saves you against decks like burn and certain storm decks, as well as wins you games that get down to the last few points of damage (which this deck does very often).

STUFF IV'E LEARNED FROM PLAYING THE DECK

Situation: Sakura Tribe-Elder and Countryside Crusher in play. Sac Elder at the end of your opponent’s turn if you need the extra untapped mana on your turn. Otherwise, save it until the non-land is revealed off Crusher, then decide whether you want to keep it or sac Elder and shuffle it away.

Never play Crusher AFTER putting lands in your graveyard, i.e. cycling/using Wasteland/discarding to S. Assault/using Crop Rotation or Devastating Dreams. If you plan on lands hitting the yard play Crusher first so you can start building +1/+1 counters.

Once you play Crusher you won’t draw lands. Have a forest, two other lands and a LftL to keep building your landbase, otherwise you will be stuck on 3 lands for as long as Crusher is in play. From experience I know that playing Crusher on 3 Mountains is a huuuuge mistake because it cuts you off from green spells.

Always kill Deathrite Shaman. He will ruin your life if he is not taken care of. Fortunately all the removal can take him out (Lavamancer, DD, Bolt, S. Assault, Explosives, Firespout).

If you suspect graveyard hate and you have a Loam in your graveyard, keep a cycling land in your hand. Cycle it and dredge Loam in response.

Most of this deck’s threats are red, be wary of pro-red cards like Mom and Circle of Protection: Red. Pack some enchantment removal and kill Mom ASAP. EE kills both of those very well also.

First turn Mox + land (2 mana), second turn land, play Sakura Tribe-Elder and sac it (4 mana), third turn Devastating Dreams for 2 leaves you with your best land and Mox against an (often) empty board. Deathrite, Stoneforge, mana elves, Confidant and goblins die from the Pyroclasm effect as well. Seems pretty good.

That said, play DD carefully against decks with counterspells. Discarding 2-3 cards only to get countered hurts.

When you have Crusher out, use cards like Crop Rotation, Wasteland, cycle lands and S. Assault as combat tricks. Swing or block with a weak Crusher and pump it as needed.

True. This is not a budget deck in the purest sense, but in legacy it sure is. So far I have paid around 100 bucks for this deck, which is a pretty large amount of money. However, the most powerful versions of this deck cost in excess of 2,000 dollars. I have a sample deck on my profile if you want to see, its called Loam build (expensive).
That is why I call this the budget version.

Looks great for a budget build. I have never been a big fan Sakura-Tribe Elder. Dude is literally Rampant Growth on a 1/1 body. I would never ever play Rampant growth in legacy, i'm pretty sure your not attacking with him, and the trick with Crusher doesn't seem good enough. Devestating Dreams is hit or miss for me as well. Those would be the first places id look to if i were to change anything.

I see your point with Tribe Elder, here is my defense: he is useful on defense with ye olden block-sac (improves aggro loams poor early game defense), and he can be brought back with Stronghold. Rampant Growth can't do either of these things, which is why it sucks. That said, any suggestions for a replacement? The deck always feels like it needs another threat or two.

DD is actually one of the most powerful cards in the deck, its not going anywhere (except against permission decks, when it often gets sideboarded). Almost every fair deck (Goblins, D&T, Zoo, Maverick, Shaman decks, Stoneblade) dies to a resolved DD for 3 or 4. I cant stress enough how awesome it is to completely wipe the opponents board. We are talking zero permanents versus my land, Mox, Loam in hand or graveyard. DD is sick.

*Also I'm going to thank you for all the comments here instead of on every individual deck. I'll eventually get around to tuning each deck, your comments are all really helpful. Thank you.
