Deck Description

I haven't got many of these cards (just the lands, 2 Castigates, a single Conjurer's Ban, and a Black Sun's Zenith) which is why I'm trying to get a good list on here before I try putting it together.

Any help is appreciated!

Deck discussion for Extraction

orim's chant and isochron scepter lockdown makes this deck reallllly good. Its a common thing to do on the stick. I thought about making a deck like this too. I like it.

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. Can I kick it every time I play it with Isochron Scepter by the way? That would be boss.

May I first ask you 1) what format you want to build this in, and 2) what your budget range is? =]

First, thanks for the comment. I plan on using this casually with friends, but I go to legacy FNM every once in a while and would like it to be competetive. Price range is around 100 bucks.

Eeeeeesh...Alrighty let me work on some low budget stuff...Extraction is sadly a pretty pricey deck-type =[

Thanks man. I dunno though... I have the cards I need to finish the deck going for around 50 bucks on TCG. I've got trades going for 3 Hymn to Tourachs, 3 Isochron Scepters, and 4 Silences (decent replacement for Orim's Chant considering my budget). I guess if I were to upgrade the lands and everything to the really expensive stuff it would get pricey, but so far it hasn't been too bad.

As it stands now it's a pretty nice budget take on Extraction. Mostly I think some card ratios could be fuddled around with (yes, fuddled), but that comes out of playing the deck in a solid form.

You are correct that a big part of the two or three thousand dollar price-tag on a "high-end" Iso-Seek or PAL design is the lands, but not all of it. So like I said, it's nice to see what you can do with just 10% of that budget =]

I agree that actual play will change the deck, thanks for the help! =D

Hey sure, how often do you mulligan with your extraction decks? I've been taking sample hands and not very many are playable. Around what turn does extraction put real pressure on an opponent's deck?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with double spells isn't the cmc of the card equal to both halves?

If so then you couldn't use it with Iso. If not ignore this comment :)

Did some research the cmc is weird with multi-part cards, but you can use it with Iso. So ignore my above comment.

Thanks! =D I'm assuming youu are talking about Hide/Seek with the mana cost thing. You only have to pay for the half that you are playing, so Seek can be inprinted on the Scepter like you said.

lol, as i have said in the past im new so i got no idea what extraction is :P. but i dont realy play black my friend does, his discarsding deck is blue black, the cards id suggest for this are (some are blue, but i guess you could add a splash of blue to this deck, i really think it would be good), Traumatize, bloodhusk ritualist, hoden of Nights reach, LILIANA"S CARESS!!, abyssal nocturnus, bonehoard, sangromancer and jace's erasure..... these are only cards i think would be good, im not saying to PUT them in, just think bout em, hope this helps :D

Extraction is a deck type that aims to disable the opponent's deck by "extracting" the win conditions from it. Its really versatile, because every deck has a weakness that, if you are smart about it, you can exploit. The win comes from your opponent decking himself or Shimian Specter.

Odd you should mention blue-black extraction, I was just making one. It'll be up in an hour or so.

The Hide / Seek cards are the best.
