No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

This is my version of Spanish Inquisition (!) The deck, which originally and consistently killed on Turn 1 and it had numerous ways of doing just that.
But, before I get more into how it Works, I would like to ask for some help making this either Legacy or Vintage Legal - so feel free to drop an advice or two and I shall reply asap =)

The bottomline design I cannot take credit for. It was made, I think, in '06 or '07 by a guy called Evenpence, and he did a remarkable thing. *Salute!

[Edit]: Made it Legacy legal!
- 4 Mana Crypt
+ 4 Mox Opal

[Edit]: Made it tougher against Extraction
- 2 Shield Sphere
- 2 Phyrexian Walker
+2 Memnite
+2 Ornithopter
[Edit]:
- 2 Promise of Power
+2 Griselbrand - Nope

How to Play

Okay. The first thing is, that this is a landless deck, I´ve seemed to have fallen into a pit with those lately, but I'm trying to pull myself up again. There are 0 land in order to activate the Charbelcher (and you could do this Turn 1 of course) and reveal your entire library. Rules say "UNTIL" you reveal a land Card, but DCI Judges are clear on that matter - 'Only' your entire library is revealed, and then you can begin to rig it back, just the way you want.

The first kill with Charbelcher can be done as following;
A Mox/Petal, a zero-drop, Culling The Weak, Charbelcher and LED. (I´ve had this hand more than once =) )

The other kill is Tendrils of Agony. To Storm up you will need the following in hand;
Infernal Tutor, LED (Lion's Eye Diamond) and Ill-Gotten Gains. Here's how:
Play Dark Ritual then LED and Infernal Tutor. Crack LED in response giving you 'Hellbent' and search for an Ill-Gotten Gains. Play that returning LED and Infernal Tutor alongside with Dark Ritual and search for another Ill-Gotten - Rinse, wash repeat until you use Infernal Tutor to find Tendrils of Agony and a massive Storm Count - Boom.

Another way is to simply draw as many cards as you can - don't pay heed to the lifeloss and play Promise of Power for a maniacle Demon with a whopping P/T. Okay, okay, this would only be a Turn 2 beat, but still =)

~Enjoy ^_^

There's a deck here on the Vault which is named something similar to "Nobody remembered the spanish inquisition" so, Remember, Remember and yes - nobody expects, haha. Cool you knew that =D
I just discovered the concept a few weeks ago and since I'm fixed upon landless - or close to landless - decks right now, I thought I'd give it a try.
So far I've gotten three turn 1 wins, one turn 2 and three turn 3's - its insane
Thanks for the comment

good to see you're still making decks. not sure if it would work too well here but ad nauseam to get the 0's to hand and then drop a fatal tendrils is a sick combo. you're running a lot of artifacts, so you might try taking out the mana crypts, (seeing as they are the only banned cards in this deck for legacy) and putting in 4 mox opals instead.

Thanks man, and sorry for the over-due answer - I haven't been online for a looong time.
I'll think about removing the Crypts - they are nuts! But yeah... they are whats holding this back from competitive action.
Good to hear from you again =)

I'm slowly getting used to the Opal thing, but what should I exchange for Ad Nauseam?

I wouldnt add Ad Nauseam. SI has pretty much always revolved around using the draw 4's. Using Ad Naus effectively requires a very different deck. Way too many ways to end up killing yourself if you put it in here.

You know I never actually played the mono-Black version of Spanish Inquisition, I had already played normal Belcher by that point, and wound up with a two land build using Land Grants. Then I wound up using the weirdness that was Pact SI, and that was when the deck really brought out the soft cushions in my opinion.

It seems like a lifetime ago I played with this, but thanks for commenting =) The small playgroup won´t let me use this, hehe, but that´s okay, I usually get uncomfortable with a winning-streak this size. It´s something which is incarnated in almost every human being in Denmark; The Jantelov / "Janteloven" is basically to keep one Down, real low, where terms such as "Don´t think you´re somebody special - ´cause you´re not" and "You´ll never succeed in life by dreaming alone" are commonplace

Didn´t mean to sound like a douche, and certainly not suggesting that other´s should be that way too, no =)

I know what you mean, I no longer play Reanimator, and barely play my Lands deck in our group unless money is on the line. Then all is fair in the format agreed upon :) I can also agree with the idea of the Jantelov/Janteloven, and quite inline with something I've had to say a few times recently; " People may like to be painted as one in a million, and they may be right, but there are roughly seven billion people right now. "

I can´t remember where I heard, or who, said it, but someone more-or-less-famous-person once said;
"Don´t congratulate yourself too much... Or berate yourself either"
But when is enough and when isn´t? I think that´s what sets us people apart from one another - In Denmark we tend to berate ourselves a bit more (from what I can imagine)
And you´re absolutely right - one in a million, but the pond is an ocean, thereby not saying that each individual is not a wonder, we are =)

I stumbled across another mana producer, but I´m uncertain to use it.
"Carnival of Souls" its called
Any thoughts?

That's one I have no testing experience with, but it could very well work. I think if you were to test it, my suggestion would be something like
-1 Charbelcher
-1 Cabal Ritual
+2 Carnival of Souls
It'd allow you to have more or less the same ramp potential, and only moderate dilution of win conditions during testing.
