not a bad build seems pretty strong. personally i like counter spell over cancel.

dude i found counterspells for 1.25 and they have 20 of em.
The only card I would replace is hydro surge, probably with Echoing Truth or Aether Surge. This would deal with an attacking creature for two turns and mess with your opponent's mana. Then again, playing hydro surge against an attacker then multi blocking it could destroy it while minimizing your losses. Your call.
Very cool, if you pull Phantasmal Images that would put this deck over the top copying a lord of the unreal but they are pricey. Not a huge fan of the Phantasmal Abomination, but I'm an aggresive player and would rather put something in that can do damge to an opponent. Doubling up the warriors would so the trick, or Jace's phantasm as an early flyer with the potential to be a later game beefcake.

Pretty good, not that much cheaper than my budget decks ($7-$12 less) , but kudos, $40 leaves limited choices and u made a good deck.
