Jace & Chandra 2012

I played a pair of sealed tournaments with two of my friends a few days ago, and one of them pulled a premium Chandra, the Firebrand out of his twelve packs. He was thinking of ways to put together a mono-red deck that would revolve around her.

Today, that same friend obtained a second 2012 booster box as a delayed graduation gift from his cousin. In it, he pulled a premium Jace, Memory Adept, and nearly pissed himself.

I proposed the idea of putting a deck together with both of them because he's been playing a mono-blue late game control / mill deck. My idea was to splash red that sacrifices a bit of blue control in exchange for power with Chandra's mana-less copying ability and some creature removal spells. He asked me for deck ideas.

This is modeled after his original blue deck, with my ideas thrown in. I had never really played against his take on mill before. His power comes from Jace's Erasure, and then plays counter spells and 1 mana cantrips to keep his mana open. With multiple Jace's Erasure out, Jace's Archivist and Jace, Memory Adept become deadly. He was playing Preordain, which I substituted with Visions of Beyond, keeping in mind that Preordain is 2011. I'm not sure if this is purely an upgrade or not, because Visions without its 20 card graveyard effect seems lackluster.

He wants to keep it mainly blue. He also told me that he wanted to keep it standard, so the cards in the sideboard are there to swap out for the M11 cards after the rotation. I would love it if anyone from the community could put in some ideas for potential card choices to help this poor lucky son-of-a-gun friend of mine :P
