Deck Description

Get varolz out and watch the magic happen.

How to Play

Turn 1: forest
Turn 2: swamp, play lotleth troll and discard death's shadow and force of savagery to increase lotleth troll to a 4/3
Turn 3: forest, play varolz
Turn 4: swamp, scavenge death's shadow and force of savagery onto lotleth troll making him a 25/24 trample (4/3 + 13/13 + 8/8 = 25/24) and end them! You can buff the troll even more by discarding any other unnecessary creatures.

Thanks to everyone for liking this deck! :)
Thinking about adding jarad and/or corpsejack. Advice on what to do concerning that choose would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Changes:
took out x4 mulches, added x4 grisly salvages
added x4 abrupt decays to the sideboard

I would probably take out Deadbridge Chant and add two more Jarad's Orders to prevent you losing/taking Death's Shadow or Force of Savagery from the grave. But otherwise really nice deck

Even if you do, then more than likely FoS, and sometimes Death's, will just drop right back into the graveyard when you play them. Or worst case you have a 1/1 for one black mana? Chump block... Let it die... Do it again?

Nah with Varolz, the Scar-Strip and Lotleth Troll (his win con) it should make things easier. Ie use Lotleth to end up with both cards in the grave (eg two Death's Shadow) can be scavenged onto Lotleth for only two mana.

I don't think I need more card search as in more jarad's orders. I've already got x4 fauna shaman and x2 jarad's orders to find varolz and to throw death's shadow into a graveyard. I might consider taking out deadbridge chant though. Thanks for your input guys. Deadbridge chant is only in there so I can get varolz or lotleth troll back.

In that case consider using Down // Dirty (for dirty), Treasured Find (to get ANY card) or Midnight Recovery (with trample and discard allows constant discard)

Grisly Salvage is significantly better than Mulch in this deck.

Yeah good point. I was a little caught up over the fact that its mana cost is one green and one black but it should be fine. Thanks.

maybe sideboard a jarad for his awesome sacking power and also add corpsejack menace to change it to a 5 turn win, but way more vicious with a 46/45!

I dont understand turn 2:
Turn 2: swamp, play lotleth troll and discard death's shadow and force of savagery to increase lotleth troll to a 4/3

how do you discard death's shadow and force of savagery, you have 0 mana after casting lotleth troll..

*sorry i'm pretty new to the game, still unsure of alot of rules

Read Lotleth Troll. He has an ability with 'Discard a creature card' as a cost.

Its totally cool man and I'll be happy to explain. If you read lotleth troll first ability it states, "Discard a creature card: put a +1/+1 counter on lotleth troll". This ability requires no mana. Abilities that require mana have the cost of the ability in front of it (for example lotleth troll's second ability that costs one black mana). Does that make sense?

well, this deck is very good, but seriously? what are the chances of getting this particular combo? give me those odds and then I might start calling you awesome. I don't pretend to have anything better, but seriously?

I see your point. This specific combo is rare but their are many other quick combos that result in similar results. Even is you don't get the combo turn 4 you can get it turn 5 or 6 and it will still be effective. In addition, I never asked to be called "awesome" lol

Great deck idea mate ! Just a quick question: What format is this for? Seeing as it's not modern legal, why not add in Survival of the Fittest as well - It is insane and allows you to chain discard cards and find the scavenge targets or even Varolz/Troll in a pinch!
I actually run a Skullbriar EDH deck with a similar theme - check it out - http://www.mtgvault.com/buzzgsc/decks/edh-skullbriar-ftw/

I will be sure to check them out and I'm just using this deck for fun, but if you want to build this deck in modern you can always take skullbriar out.

Problem with this deck this the massive amount of graveyard hate. Almost every deck will have some graveyard hate sideboarded. This will simply ruin your combo and deck.
I like the idea, but sadly i think it is not going to work.

Depends... If it's a big tournament then definitely yes there will be graveyard hate, but if it is a small tournament or even a casual game then most likely you won't find much trouble

I see where you're coming from rayutin, but I'm just making this deck to have fun. I'm not intending on using this in huge tournaments or anything. I like making decks that are good but losing doesn't matter too much too me, I just think this deck would be fun.

Since you are searching for cards to kill anyway, and therefore need not worry about hard casting, right behind Shadow and Savagery would be Hunted Horror, in my opinion. 2 black for 7 counters is not something to ignore.
Sideboard Riftsweepers and Naturalize though, because people tend to focus on messing up graveyard decks if they know that's how you play. Since official rulings on exile says it's faceup unless otherwise noted, Riftsweeper can pull back any card you would normally lose forever, and the Naturalize gets rid of things like Rest in Peace.

yeah I'll add naturalize to the side board. I do like riftsweeper but what should I take out
