You are right, he's a landfall 8/8 trampler for 6 cmc. Just throw in Terra stomper as it's naturally an 8/8 trampler for 6 AND it cannot be countered..Just the fact that it doesn't have to rely on landfall is better.

Have you thought about Genesis Wave? I use it in my Obnoxious deck, and it's pretty decent.
