Deck Description

Idea was from Ded Ward's land destruction deck from a while ago, its found here: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=166299

anyways I took it and modified it some and it has been doing fairly well against a variety of decks in standard
so far, including the games pre-sideboard, it is at 61% win percentage
here are the stats

valakut: 2 -3
u/b control: 3-0
kuldotha red: 0-5
time seive : 3-0
mono white control: 0-2
dark blade: 1-1
black/blue vamp: 2-0
Geosurge Eldrazi: 3-1
Shape Colossus: 2-0
RDW: 1-0
caw blade (u/w): 1-3
b/r aggro: 1-0
mono b control : 2-0
b/g infect: 1-2
colorless myr: 1-0
elves/eldrazi: 2-0
U/W knights: 2-1
b/u/r tez infect: 1-2
total 27-18 (60%)

so it tends to be bad against creature heavy aggro, but good vs pretty much everything else
it slaughters u/b control
surprisingly, both games vs the darkblade were within 5 or so life of either side winning, so they were a really even match up

Deck discussion for competitive land destruction standard

As you say, seems hard to stand against heavy aggro with this, other than that it looks pretty mean.

Maybe get some flame slash side-boarded against creature-aggro

If you're having issues with creatures, consider swapping in Flame Slash. While a sorcery, it can be used to target some rather large aggro better than Lightning Bolt can. It's a clear sideboard option in your situation, and perhaps a better choice than Galvanic Blast since you'll never have Metalcraft.

I'd also strongly consider Iron Myr. Not only will he serve as early chump blocking, but you could use his ramp to perhaps get ahead on the aggro heavy decks you're struggling with.

I welcome any comments or criticism you can offer on any of the decks that I have posted on the site (just click on my name to see the deck list). Thanks in advance!

maybe a few pyroclasm's on the side board aswell to handle kuldotha a little better keep them little guys in check seein how you dont have to many creatures your casualties will be at a minimum

thanks for the suggestions, will definitely add some of the pyroclasm to side board and will strongly consider flameslash

after testing decided to keep galvanic blast over flameslash just because of the instant speed, it runs very smoothly without the iron myr and I am hesitant to rely on it when its only really useful one turn and afterwards dead weight in this deck

I like what you've got going here, except for Tectonic Edge. I don't like the idea of putting myself back one land just to get rid of an opponent's land and it can only target a nonbasic land :(

I'm not sure about being tournament worthy, but check out my standard land destruction deck, you mite get a few ideas from it :

I just love abusing Liquimetal Coating :p

as long as I have atleast 4 lands besides the techtonic edge (or need it to keep jace out of play) I am fine with losing the land, however I have been having a lot of trouble with phyrexian crusader and kor firewalker, any ideas anyone?

OH HEY, found the deck i got the idea from, it was the one in Ded's link
yeah lol, will edit that in the information now, and yeah
if it wasn't for phyrexian crusader and kor firewalker, It would definitely be tournament worthy
as it is I still have a 60 % win rate against netdecks on OCTGN right now with it... the cawblade match up is very close until they sb in firewalkers...

I've used my standard goblin deck against a strait black infect deck that runs Phyrexian Crusader and it was easily taken care of thanks to Valakut :D
