my first EDH --NEEDS HELP--

by burkek on 27 March 2011

Main Deck (100 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

basically I was curious about EDH, so decided to try to make a deck
I have a lot of slivers from when i first started playing, and since I really don't use them in regular play anymore, I figured they might work well in an EDH deck
Any comments and/or help is much appreciated

Commander == Sliver Overlord

edit: new idea is that you have some walls (any work, i just chose the first ones i can think of) until you get sliver overlord on turn 5 and pump

Deck discussion for my first EDH --NEEDS HELP--

I would highly recommend checking out this guide for a first-time deckbuilder: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/21014577/EDH_Format_Staples_*NEW*

As for the best of the best, these are cards that no EDH deck (of the appropriate colors) should be without:

Sol Ring
Eternal Witness
Reliquary Tower
Sensei's Diving Top
Mirari's Wake

As a basic premise, because games of EDH tend to go much longer than a regular game, you want to try and avoid cards with 'small' effects as much as possible. Cards that are good in regular constructed are generally a lot worse in EDH, such as Lightning Bolt, Arc Lightning, and Mana Leak. Arc Lightning looks a lot worse when your opponent is able to bring out dudes with 5 or greater toughness, and mana leak is almost wholly unusable in a format with huge amounts of mana easily accessible.

Generally, avoid burn spells as a way of removal. Effects like Doom Blade and Go for the Throat are much more reliable, since often times creatures they play will be well outside 'burn range.'

A few spells can greatly compliment your slivers. Look for cheap removal like Terminate or Go For The Throat, a few creature and land search cards, Sensei's Divining Top (Soothsaying may b easier to find), or protection cards like Asceticism, or Privileged Position (not hard to find, may run 3-5 bucks each) Sol Ring and Eternal Witness are easily found now in promo legal to use decks, Go For The Throat is everywhere if u have a dollar. Also if u can find one, Grab a Worldly Tutor.
