Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

My first attempt in building an effective anti-aggro deck, trying to counter instants, exile creatures and eliminating tokens with Bile Blight. I'm still not sure whether it can win the game only with Elspeth and Gideon, therefore I would love any sort of advice and help.

Deck discussion for My First Control Deck

One thing you'll want more of is counters. You're running very few for a control deck and don't have a lot of direct removal to back it up. Another thing that you're lacking is drawing power, 2 serum visions will not keep you from running out of cards, which is the worst thing that can happen to you in a control deck. I would cut lands down to 24, cut fiend hunter (too easy to remove), sideboard aegis of the gods for decks that are more interactive with you (burn comes to mind), cut batwing brume (good idea, but it's better to run cards that will not allow your opponent to set up to the point that you will need this), and sideboard bile bileblight for decks that you know will be running tokens. Giddeon should be enough for a win condition given enough time on the field, Elspeth less so, but the chump blockers / pingers that she'll summon will be very helpful. Some cards that would definitely help you are delver of secrets (one of the best cards in modern), isochron scepter (a personal favorite of mine in control decks), mana leak, sphinx's revelation, elixir of immortality, narset transcendent, vapor snag, think twice (iffy, but ok), go for the throat (better than doom blade, artifact creatures are less common to run into than black creatures), far/away, evacuation, cyclonic rift, dissolve, remand, and esper charm. Don't know which of these you would want to add in or not, depends on what you want the deck to do, so there you go, my two cents are in.
