Deck Description

There isnt a definitive control deck in standard, so i engineered my own! Medomai is win con(fairly obvious). Reasoning behind that includes two things.
1)Hes so much fun. untap with him, you win. Nothing can stop you.
2)Elspeth is $20. How about lets not do that instead.
This deck is fairly reasonable on price, but it does need some improvements to the mana base. Leave comments below, please!

How to Play

Control, simply put. Counter things, wipe boards, drop medomai late game and watch your opponents face drop. As my friend always jokes,"Whats a control player's favorite word?.... No! "*cue applause* And that's really how you win! i will say that there is some complexity in the deck, as you will have to know what to counter when and with which counter spells. Tips for a aspiring control player? Never let Courser of Kruphix resolve. He will demolish everything. If you have nullify and the mana for it, play it. Its worth it, trust me. So ya, leave comments below! Thanks guys!

Your win condition is very, very, very slow. A legendary creature means you can only have one out at a time and it only has 4 toughness. The maximum damage you have in spells is 12 from 4 different lightning strikes.

Maybe revisit your win con here, look into some other control like banishing light, Aetherspouts, Polymorphists Jest, etc. You need more spells that target creatures, IMO, rather than spells. If you face a temur deck that is running as intended or a jeskai tokens you will be facing game winning turn 3 drops with no response except a potential nullify if you did not go first or you are stuck with a tapland down.

Don't get me wrong, though, I love control, just trying to help with what could and will happen with some frequency.

well i dont have unlimited resources, so i cannot grab elspeth. Is there another win con that could be better? and ive not had success with banishing light because lots of people run erase in sideboard, so it never sticks, unfortuantely. :( what kind of list would you run?

would pearl lake ancient be better? ill pick up three of him. and what to remove for aetherspouts and such?

Yes much better! Pearl is very strong. One or two aetherspouts could replace a dig through time and jace's. I think you might find you have too many digs, they are great but graveyard intensive.

well ok then! Can do, hopefully the ancients will make this stronger.

Pearl means a 2 - 3 turn win over a 5 turn win. Assuming 20 health of your opponent.

a creature hoard deck will eventually get something out. i think illness in the ranks would be a good choice (at least in sideboard)
