Deck Description

I've been mentally toying with the idea of a Phenax-based mill deck for a while and I think this might be one of the best approaches to it. I realized that a lot of lists struggle because they fail to stabilize the board. This list focuses largely on setting up a full-deck mill that takes 1 or 2 turns of milling to win.

How to Play

Establish a large board and then mill for huge amounts with Phenax's ability. Preferably tap out at the end of your opponent's turn, then during your turn and pass for a win, or use a Triton Tactics. Be careful not to drop too many creatures when facing control.

Notable card choices:
Omenspeaker - having a 1/3 will protect you from a lot of small creatures, and the scry is very strong.
Sigiled Starfish - basically the same idea as Omenspeaer. Better in some ways, worse in others.
Duskmantle Guildmage - mostly used to provide Phenax with some devotion. If I'd change anything about the deck, it would be this card.
Claustrophobia - provides 2 devotion and can shut down an annoying creature.
Disperse - pretty much used to buy you time. Nice for picking up Planeswalkers.
Rapid Hybridization - to deal with creatures that your board can't handle. Any of the big defenders will have no problem handling a 3/3, but you can't really afford to have Desecration Demon flying around.
Jace, Memory Adept - this seems like an obvious choice, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I would prefer to focus the deck more on just Phenax, but having a free milling source that can alternatively draw cards is very strong, even if it does cost 5 mana.

Cards to consider:
-Draw power
-Counter spells
-Doom Blade and Dark Betrayal

Deck discussion for Phenax Mill JOU

I would consider things like Thoughtseize, maybe Duress, Counterspells Like Dissolve or Syncopate.

I think your draw power should be fine with Jace and your scry effects. But instead of bouncing creatures or tapping them, why not just straight up remove them?

Another thing if your going against a control deck having a counter in your head could be the difference of putting Phenax/Jace down or not.

I am not normally a big mill fan but i am starting to think about it.

Just some idea's
