I don't really understand the text, let's say that I have 4 creature token on the battlefield, will I next turn have 8 or just 5?

It would be 5. Its only one extra token put in. its why i can't figure out why people run it over parallel lives in a token producing deck when lives doubles any token coming into play much like doubling season
