Deck Description

Check out my other Treefolk deck that I made before this one:
http://www.mtgvault.com/casey130/decks/modern-treefolk/

I still need help with the sideboard, so any help is appreciated!

The fetch-lands are just a dream at the moment, I'm just using more shocklands in there place for now.

How to Play

Treefolk working together to win the game.

Don't keep a hand that doesn't have a 1 or 2 drop.
Spend the first 1 or 2 turns setting up then drop the real powerhouses like Dungrove Elder, Dauntless Dourbark, or Timber Protector.
Leaf-Crowned Elder and Heartwood Storyteller will keep the cards flowing.
Doran can swoop in and essentially double the power of all your creatures and take the game pretty quickly.

Sideboarding:
-PITHING NEEDLE: Pretty much just for Planeswalker, which can be really troublesome for this deck.
-SPELLSKITE: Has many uses, good against aggressive decks or burn and stops Splinter Twin combo, I wouldn't play it if I wasn't playing Doran.
-SCAVENGING OOZE: Good graveyard while also making a good creature and gaining some life, can stop Melira Pod Persist combo and Snapcaster Mage.
-WICKERBOUGH ELDER: Very versatile card, comes in against a lot of match-ups.
-THALIA, GUARDIAN OF THRABEN: Comes in against Storm and maybe control decks, or any decks that don't have many creatures.
-ABRUPT DECAY/CRIB SWAP: Sometimes you need to get rid of stuff, removes Melira Pods combo pieces and any other deck that have troublesome permanents. Crib Swap can be tutored up.
-THOUGHTSEIZE: A strong card to bring in the slow matchups. Cheap efficient disruption.

Deck discussion for Modern Doran Treefolk

Skinshifter is nuts in treefolk.

Pretty cool card but the problem is that he doesn't totally fit into the theme because he's not a Treefolk

But he can become one. Also what is deathrite doing in here in that case?

Skinshifter cannot become a Treefolk and Deathrite is a great utility creature, it can ramp like Noble Hierarch and can help race, either gaining life or doing damage.

plant/treefolk potato/potaato. If your problem with skinshifter is not being a tree folk then why is deathrite/noble hiersarch in here? If you don't want to use him, fine. But he fits doran like a glove and is a treefolk when you have doran, a rhino when you don't have doran.

I agree with d3Necromaster
If you're building a competitive deck you can't worry about whether the cards are treefolk or not. And if you are to spend USD 800 on a deck, you may want to ensure that it is competitive.

Most Doran competitive decks utilizes both Tarmogoyf, Dark Confidant, Liliana, Path's to Exile and Inquisition of Kozilek. It is probably beyond your price-range, but Doran, Rock, Junk and Jund are the most expensive Modern decks to build.

If you're building a casual tribal deck I would skip the costly fetch lands and add some removals and disrupts to slow down your opponents tempo :) Keeping it on an affordable budget level :)

Skinshifter has no synergy with Treefol at all, Noble Hierarch and Deathrite Shaman are defineltely needed to keep this deck from being as slow as hell

Also the deck really isn't meant to be a "Doran Deck" but a "Treefolk Deck", it started off monogreen and really cheap as you were suggesting, you can follow the link in the description to see it.

How does this deck stack against other Modern Decks? Done any testing?
From my perspective it seems like it is a bit low on tempo, and doesn't interact much with opponent.

I havent actually tested this deck but a very similar Treefolk deck:
http://www.mtgvault.com/casey130/decks/modern-treefolk/
It doesnt do amazing but I do end up winning more than losing.

Based on the metagame stats you have there, I would say that this deck is doing far better then I would have expected in the match-ups.

You should consider Ghost Quarters:
- Helps against TRON. You will have a hard time to counter its mana ramp to a hardcast Emrakul.
- Helps against Merfolk,. You don't interact with your opponent and islandwalking Merfolks have a higher aggro then treefolks.

That is definitely true, I dont think there is any Merfolk going around in my local metagame but Tron is there and turn 3 Karn/Wurmcoil just ruins everything.
But I have a hard time justifying putting any non-Forest lands in.

Hmm I will... Trade Hierarchs for Aether Vials (less prone to removal, instant speed, more ramp, etc...), take out the birds to go into 24 lands. Looks awesome!

I agree actually,Aether Vial could be good here and a land instead of Birds

Then I could really see a set of Cavern of Souls to make your drops unstoppable.

I tried that once and this deck really loves forests though it is worth it to probably throw in a couple
