It goes from bloodghast to flashbag marauder or your commander if it gets "tucked" reassembling skeleton, and i resay the fact that Phyrexian Dreadnought is +12/+12 for varolz, also tooth and nail is nuts....
With birthing pod if you want mana you can go from viridian emissary to yavimaya elder and then solemn simulacrum , that is a true mana fix, then just go for kalonia hydra and double the counters on varolz...
Add Rancor and maybe some unblockable. One of Varolz's greatest weaknesses is that he can dock a massive amount of counters on different creatures, but without trample or lifelink or unblockable, they're not going to do much.

Have you considered Wild Beastmaster? She's done great things for me. But then, I don't have Hydra Omnivore or Kalonian Hydra.
