Ascensions I feel slow the deck down a little too much. I could consider it for my SB against a heavy control deck, but I could imagine I would be disappointed to draw them when I really needed a burn spell most games.
I see pure 4X for all instants and sorceries, that's why I asked.

It reduces the reliance on the shocklands. They can get very painful if you are only have nothing else available in the first few turns. You will never need to fetch more than a couple of each.
yeah, shocks only want to be used in the first few turns I assume, after that lands that rely on mountains, plains, etc being in play do the trick
