Deck Description

I'm the only player who can play spells without taking damage, and I make sure no creatures are on the field, making the opponent HAVE to play spells.

Personal Sanctuary keeps me safe from myself.

thanks! the only thing i worry about with it is creatures too big for me to kill, but i threw in some path to exile and meekstone for that. Might add another 1 or 2 meekstones

Hi Chewrida,

You asked me to take a look at this deck. Interesting prison burn deck. Fun casual, but it would never make it in tournament. It has serval sub-optimal cards.

Drop Cerebral Eruption and Personal Sanctuary there are lots of better cards for the mana.

Traditionally prison is done with tanglewire / static orb. Might want to try it. Manabarbs is typically run
in decks that are heavy in artifact mana instead of land. May be you should considered dropping Manabards and adding Enlightened Tutor or changing your mana base.

If you really want to make this deck tourney worthy I'd research current Legacy Stax and MUD decks.

Hope that helps.

May you always make your own good luck.

Hey planestalker thank you for your input, I needed some other views on this deck and it helped. I do actually plan on dropping the cerebral eruptions, and Im going to keep the personal sanctuarys in there for the simple fact that it allows me to use spells and tap mana to play spells without spellshock, pyrostatic pillar, and mana barbs damaging me. I plan to pretty much keep the opponent playing spells and hurting themselves while i can play whatever i want to take out their field, and hit it for a big finisher with either chandra or banefire, or just pick away at what life they'd have left.
enlightened tudor would be an amazing add, but it's expensive to buy, i may have to wait to save up and get a play set of them sometime. tanglewire and static orb are very interesting with the whole tapping and things staying tapped aspect to them, i do think they are a good combo but idk if they'd work with this deck. I still would like to untap my lands so i can keep burning away at them.

what do you think about adding another meekstone or two and dropping smoke?

But i agree i doubt this would ever go very far in a tourny, I would have to think pretty hard to figure out something for it if i ever planned on taking this to a tourny, but in a multi player match this deck is extremely fun to play.

And thank you yes your input helped

Hi Chewrida,

Take a look at this link to get more ideas about what to do with manabarbs.
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion.aspx?multiverseid=193748

I've never been a big fan of meekstone though I did once have a fun deck that ran Meekstone and Thran Weaponary (gives all creatures +2/+2) and Rancor. I find Ensnaring Bridge is a much better Moat like card.

Checking the Internet I found a fun combo of Blessing + Beloved Chaplain with Meekstone in play.

Here's a casual group game black prison/burn deck I made a long time ago.

Later I improved it by adding Death Pit's of Rath and indestructible creatures.

4 Ensnaring Bridge
4 Dark Ritual
4 Vampiric Tutor (Diabolic Intent now)
3 Pestilence
4 Crypt Rat (Later replaced with Syphon Soul which is evil in group game)
4 Culling the Weak
3 Drain Life
1 Bond of Agony
4 Slithering Shade (Almost seems to be built for Ensnaring Bridge)
2 Dark Suspicions (Later Replaced with Death Pit's of Rath)
4 Sadistic Glee (Later Replaced with Darksteel Myr)
19 Swamp
4 Mishra's Factory

Thanks for the link, i checked it out.
I mostly am liking meekstone because the large creatures i cant kill right away will be less worrisome to me. If the creatures power is 3 or under itll be real easy for me to remove it, anything over meekstone helps prevent too much assault from toil i can eventually remove it. If theres a better large creature prevention for r/w I'd love to hear it too. Tho I have not gotten to to play this deck with meekstone in it so i dont know exactly how effective it will be, I'm only assuming it will mesh well. ( I like the meekstone and Thran weaponry combo you mentioned, thats neat, especially if you threw down a frozen ether with it too) I'm def. thinking that another ghostly prison is needed (tho i only own one right now) and I'm seriously considering a 2nd meekstone unless i find a better option for this kind of lockdown i have and for the colors im using. I might look into a judgement day too.

Interesting build you have for that black prison deck, I really really like the pestilence, darksteel myr, and death pits of rath combo, thats awesome, very mean for creature control.

Thank you Planestalker for your input and help on this deck you've given me so far.

i like this idea. havent seen anything like this bud. hmm if u r worried about creatures getting near u, u could always consider having blazing archon in the sb. this seems tough to beat other than a bunch of weenies comming ur way.

Thanks man! I love using this deck, and hmmm blazing archon would work great, but i think id like to use ghostly prison more...probably sideboard it if i do, cost a lil less and im always worried about destroying my own creatures haha thats why my only ones are indestructible haha... against weenie decks smoke is their downfall, along with my field burns and wipes :) to tell you the truth the biggeat problem ive had is getting personal sanctuary too late and damaging myself because of that... but this deck work amazingly normally :p

the prion would be a great idea that much is true. Norns Annex is another good card too, same thing really. i just thought of a card to fix that. Pariah's shield and Pariah, both can reroute the damage to stuffy who btw might wanna consider being a 4 of. those few changes might make this deck pretty resilliant to most others.

Tho I love the idea of phariah, thats such a good card and too amazing on stuffy doll.
