Deck Description

Is EDH too expensive for you? Wanna play a fun deck that doesn't cost a fortune? Then allow me to introduce you to....Poor Man's EDH. For under $75 (or in this case, around) you can own a cool, powerful, and fun EDH deck that isn't too limited. This edition of Poor Man's EDH goes tribal yet again, without the massive amounts of changelings to make up for the tribe, because this time...IT'S TERROR TIME WITH ZOMBIES!!! I've seen some outstanding zombie EDH decks, and this one fits right at a budget with alot of powerful cards and interesting additions to zombies in my opinion, as well as a few of my personaly favorite black cards. Enjoy!

(SLIGHT UPDATE)
Traded Sign in Blood for Night's Whisper for budget reasons.
Took up Dark Ritual and replaced with Risen Executioner due to issues with Dark Ritual. Dark Ritual often shorted out on Swamps for key cards like Korlash & backfired. Risen Executioner also adds more creatures to a creature based deck.

(UPDATE)
Took out the zombies with no abilities for value.
ADDED:
Diregraf Colossus
Cryptbreaker
Fleshbag Marauder
Grave Defiler

How to Play

Korlash is an infamous warlord of one of the most despised races in the planes...Zombies. Accompanied by his Unliving Army, Korlash terrorizes the planes, and now you have mastered your necromancy enough to command this warlord and his army! Every creature in here is a zombie, and zombies are infamous for being there strength in and from beyond the grave. Cards like Ghoulraiser and Raise Dead bring them out of your grave and to your hand, while cards like Soulles One are empowered by all zombies in the grave AND on the field. Zombies know that the graveyard is just a vacation spot and that soon they'll be back terrorizing the game in no time, so you should feel free to chump block and sacrifice them when necessary. Another things wise necromancers learn over the years is that the worst kind of zombie is a powerful one, which is why Korlash brings a few zombies that pump the entire army up. Obelisk of Urd can be played easier by tapping zombies and gives them +2/+2, Cemetery Reaper pumps everyone up and can add to the army, and Undead Warchief cheapens the cost of zombies and gives them even more strength! These cards are always great choices when you get either Diabolic Tutor or Increasing Ambition, and should be a priority to summon!

Another trick in Korlash's bag is a number of removal spells. A mono-black deck has large number of options in term of removal, and Korlash fills up with only the best. Murder is just plain old murder, tragic slip gives a creature -1/-1 or -13/-13 if a creature died, and Feeding Frenzy hits a creature for all of your zombies, which is perfect against those pesky indestructible creatures!

The best part about the deck is Korlash himself! His strength grows for all the swamps you control, and with 35 Swamps, it'll be hard not to draw them! Also, Korlash can regenerate himself, so if he meets an army of chump blockers, he can just regenerate and swing again next turn! But Korlash isn't the only card powered up by swamps! The other big cards in your deck that get better with more swamps are Tendrils of Corruption, which deals a creature damage for all your swamps as well as gain you that much life, Corrupt, which is similar but allows you to target players, and Mutilate, which gives all creatures -1/-1 for each Swamp you control, which most of the time wipes the board clean! Korlash and his undead army may not have the deceptive genius of blue, the intense rage of red, or the utility of white, but what they do have is numbers, rutlessness, and you adding to their numbers to create an unstoppable army that soon will consume whatever lies in your way with unlife!
