I would just add Gilder Bairn doesn't work either as Helix Pinnacle has shroud.

In my opinion, Doubling Cube will be your best friend here. It will do what nothing else will.

Best of Luck to you!

As much as I would claim to be right, Wizards ruled that since the w/b symbol is in the reminder text, not the actual ability text, extort has no color identity. This was because of remained text on Trinisphere so the card wouldn't be limited to black.

It looks as we have informed each other on random rules. :P

Hmmm, that rule is interesting. You can never break the color identity, ever, except extort of course. You're right, I admit that, but I think that rule needs to be edited. That's not edh.

I hate to break it to you but you can't run Crypt Ghast in this deck... The extort cost has a white mana symbol in the text, but you could replace it for Nirkana Revenant if you still want the double black mana.

Best of Luck to you!

Possibly my favorite addition to this deck would be a mix of Liliana's Caress and without a doubt Jace's Archivist. Jace's Archivist wrecks in these types of decks.

I never knew it required it to be a pre-existing creature type. That's very sad; I guess I can't make my creatures genitals anymore....

I would go with frontline medics or hero of bladeholds.

I feel the biggest thing is getting the worth out of your 100 card limit.

I'd remove things like Scion of Vitu-Ghazi, call of the conclave, druid's deliverance, and Llanowar Mentor as the first three have one use, then you've wasted a card. I'd run Cloudshift over Call so you could flash a massive creature for big lifegain instead of being stuck with a sorcery that only works early game. Also llanowar mentor makes you discard a potentially amazing card for an elf.

When it comes down to it, look at what you have and for how many turns that spell will be helpful to you, then choose what truly deserves a position in your deck.

Oh Oh Oh! Couple things, since I love lifegain, this list may be longer than I intended.

Angelic Chorus; Trostani in enchantment form? Don't mind if I do.

Boon Reflection. The Original Rhox Faithmender.

Celestial Convergence, Felidar Sovereign, and Test of Endurance. I know they're kinda cheap, but still.....

Serra Avatar, Beacon of Immortality, and Celestial Mantle. Double your life total? You Need Them!

Marshaling the troops; You are playing tokens, right?

Congregate. You can easily get over a hundred health with this cast once. For even more shenanigans, play things like eternal witness, reclaim, or other grave retrieval. I mean I love Congregate to death. Seriously. You have to run Alive//Well also, Festival of Trokin is pretty nice too. Folk Medicine is amazing because it has flashback, and the same effect as Well and Festival of Trokin. Goldlight Redeemer is that effect on a creature if you want it.

Speaking of Eternal Witness, Dawnglow Infusion might be useful if you can manage to recast it. Heroes Remembered is just a big cast one way or another. I don't know how it would fare.

Any of the Healer of the Pride, Soul's Attendant effects could be useful, but that is up to you.

True Conviction: Clearly Awesome.

Ageless Entity, Sheltering Word, Cradle of Vitality, Fruedkiller's Verdict, Luminate Primordial, Noble Purpose, Purity, and Wall of Reverence are just things to think about.

Sorry for this massive pile, but Best of Luck to You!

Artful dodge from Dark Ascension would be a better replacement for Infiltrate. Even though it's not instant speed, you don't have much need to make a creature unblockable during someone else's turn. Plus artful dodge has flashback for U.

With mindcrank, you might want to add Bloodchief Ascension as they are an infinite combo together.

If you are going for the casual deck, Mirko Vosk Mind Drinker would be a good addition to your deck.

Glimpse the Unthinkable is a great card for no matter what mil deck you play, though getting your hands on some may prove difficult.

The only planeswalker I can think of to add here would be Jace, Memory Adept, but I am not personally a fan of him.

Anyway, Best of luck to you!

I don't know how it will work, but it is useful to take care of pesky planeswalkers. Personally, I'd love to run Wear//Tear but the red just doesn't work. Thanks for your input, both of you.

Thank you! This is definitely the most helpful advice column I have been given.

I forgot Wilt-Leaf liege was a knight, though getting my hands on one, especially two, may prove difficult. I'd love to play test and see how it runs.

The steward is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! I seem to always miss the small things from shards.

Knight of Sursi is a great drop one for this kind of thing. I needed more, which was why I had so much removal to slaw the game down.

I don't know how the others would work as I never have cast higher than cost four in a modern game, but I hope it turns out well.

With how many selesnya charms I have, I really shouldn't have forgotten it, but I did.

Last, I am very glad for your addition of your own deck. Congregation at dawn seems to slip my mind, always, but this works out very nicely since it is designed to be all creatures.

Thank you again, and Best of Luck to you!

True, for both statements. My choices for suggestions were mainly based on effectiveness compared to converted mana cost. I don't think I have ever been able to play a spell over cmc four in a non-ramping deck. Test it out. See how it goes. I'm quite interested.

I love this type of deck! You have done it some fair well justice so far.

My little thoughts; From playing modern, I might avoid slayer's stronghold just because it is unable to produce colored mana. As much as I agree it's ability is tasty, the likelihood of being able to use it's ability in a game is not very high. A couple card's you might want to look into: Proclamation of Rebirth and honor of the pure (since you only have one non-white creature. It's also easier to cast than legion's initiative.) I would sideboard Condemn in case path to exile would be a very bad idea. In summoning trap matches, avoid path at all costs. Although you are creature based, I'd still look into board sweepers such as wrath of god and day of judgement.

Best of luck to you!

Your builds definitely are set for a more general overwhelming where mine is absolutely combo based. I can say, in my playtests so far, being unable to get the combo is murderous. Yours might win a bit more than mine.

Thanks again, and Best of Luck.

I have looked into him a little bit, and he would be nice since I don't have a drop 1 as of now, but his ability adding only +1/+1 is a minor setback. He can have a pretty good deck built around him alone, but I think the way Kiln Fiend interacts is a bit more effective than Blistercoil.

I might think about having him be a replacement for Wee Dragonaughts. He'd combine very well with brute force as an unexpected blocker.

Thanks for your input, and Best of Luck to You!

Thanks for your input! I'll have to playtest around with Butcher of Malakir, possibly with the blade. It is Very strong once the right hand is gotten, and hopefully it will advance even further.

Best of Luck to You!

Braid of fire would be great since helix pinnacle can be activated at instant speeds but it might not be worth splashing red for since you can't cast anything that is not instant speed with it. The rules for that card are very annoying.
