Since it doesn't look like you rely on human/soldier, Yoked Ox > Valiant Guard. 0/4 instead of 0/3 as a one drop. I'm noob, but its the only thing I know could be done a little better. :P

I knew I was forgetting something.
The only reason I knew is because I drew like seven of them in a draft the other night. Pretty much kept me alive. >.>
I killed someone with one on prerelease. It was the only creature I drew so I made do.
Haha. I had yoked ox with a bunch of bestows on it. It had lifelink and deathtouch and some other stuff. Was roughly a 4/8. Hilariousness ensued.
