Deck Description

Please comment I'm going to put the order in for the 15 or so cards that i don't let me know what you think. I have everything for this deck geist didnt come in til monday but its okay placed 8th at mt first FNM without geists.

2-1 vs. B/W exalted
2-1 vs. B/R aggro
0-2 vs. nasty U/W heavy control
0-2 vs. RWU (with GoST) lol
****UPDATE**** I've been thinking of adding in 3 x dispel in MB for counter protection. Dropping 1x dissipate, 1x mortars, 1x searing spear. But I'm not to sure the deck runs great but heavy control sometimes gives me problems. I lost to the judge at my FNM with a tamiyo, jace AoT heavy control/counter deck basically his win con was azorious keyrune, snap mage, entreat. Please let me know what you think. ( Also my GoST hadn't come in yet. So I ran angel of serenity, ajani CotP, angelic overseer, and geist honored monk which wasn't to effective.

Deck discussion for Standard FNM RWU

I think the addition of an Azorious and Izzet Keyrune would help this deck a bit for those times when you need that one color that you don't have.

I'll check in again from time to time to see what changes you have made, but my initial judgement is this deck need some work. I agree with a friend I have been playtesting with for the past six monthes... Any three color deck needs the all the dual colored land you can get. In your case x2 of each shock land combo. Combined with x3 or x4 of the M13/Inn dual lands, as well as the guild gates. When drawing sample hands alone on here I find alot of holes in the mana required. Try to sub in some of those land combinations and I see you having a pretty balanced deck, although I have not play tested this specific line up.

I added in all the changes to mana I don't really have the money to do shocklands. So I bought all the tap lands instead. The deck is doing quite well in playtesting although shockwaves would make it much faster. As I get shocklands I'll switch them out thanks for commenting.

Personally i think that any 3 colored deck should have chromatic lanterns and or gilded lotus again though just a personal thought

Haunting is pointless in the sideboard...

...you won't get too much value out of Parish...

...you have 11 lands that could add U, W & R color mana... ...you need at least 12 of each... ...you use a little too much basic land...

Thanks for the comment. I look at it and dont know why i put in haunting. so pithing needle is going in its place. I'm working on the lands this is my true FNM deck so shock lands are coming in slow as they are about $15 each in my area. As I posted above in the description do you think about dispel?

Dispel is worse, than Negate...

...The Staticaster is not a good mainboard card... ...I'd rather run Lyev Skyknight here...

...as I was saying, Parish is not really strong in this deck...

...Play more Vexing Devil, add some Hellrider(awesome with Saint Traft, Skyknight & Townsfolk)...

Thundermaw Hellkite may be?..

I think you should run 2 Dissipate & 3 Syncopate mainboard, since you play aggro & you'll not alwayes have the 3 mana to cast Dissipate... ...you also need that early-game counter in a deck like this... ...Izzet Charm is also an option, 'cuz it's also good for burn...

...drop Spear & add 3 Pillar mainboard!.. ...run 3 Mortars mainboard!..

i agree with poetmaster you really do need thundermaws in there, izzet staticaster is not that good you can get her out turn 3, and your opponent would have well used their mana dorks.

I disagree with the staticaster idea it shuts down B/R zombies almost everytime. It also takes out bant early ramp from pilgrim and arbor elf. Which usually means staticaster eliminates all 1 toughness creatures they just collect dust in my opponents hand.

A wisely constructed ramp/midrange deck doesn't hame more than 4 mana creatures... ...the rest is Farseek, Keyrunes &/or Borderland Ranger, may be Ranger's Path... ...so the Staticaster is only good as sideboard at a competative enviroment... ...against zombies, 1 Staticaster could only shot down Gravecrawler & it could be re-casted... ...& Staticaster is easy to delt with, so it's only temporal medicine...

Champions actually works well in this deck there are 12 human creatures and another 8 from gather 20 humans is never a bad thing for champions. Ideally T1 champions, T2 gather champ hits for 3, T3 paladin champ swings for 8 plus 2 humans, T4 GoST and vexing devil. This deck can get nasty early.

assuming that a perfect hand comes up, forest - avacyn's - island - geist out by turn 2
where as staticaster is just coming out turn 3, i still get to use my mana dork for turn 3 and 4 til it's locked

Great deck :D All I would change is the Pithing Needles or Nevermores in the sideboard. I'm not sure which is better, but you don't need 6 sideboard cards that do almost the same thing. If UW counters is giving you trouble you can run Counterflux to ensure your spell resolves. If GoST is the problem, use Rolling Temblor or Magmaquake in the sideboard. Nice deck though, and good luck at your FNMs :)

Thanks racky. The only problems I've run into so far is counter heavy decks. I usually have them down to single digit life the get the verdict, into counter everything. At my local FNM the U/W control was get but i kept starting hands I shouldn't have being my first FNM.

hi, i'm here again, does staticaster really work here 1 damage turn 3, may i know the main use? is it for mana dorks? sorry :(

Staticaster works great against mana dorks or B/R zombies since you run a full playset of a few different 1 drops it deals 1 damage to each creature with the same name so example 4 gravecrawlers bye bye all 4 rakdos shred freak so on same with arbor elf or avacyns pilgrim kill them all.

I was thinking about that to racky rootborn is on its way in as well as dispel they have been playtesting well for me. Believe it or not augur of bolas did well but i dont know what to drop for anything yet i took out the champs in one of them my deck went complete midrange- late game. Which doesnt work well with this set up. hey everyone check out my FNM deck I built for my wife it is playtesting suprisingly well considering i dropped a ton on this and used what i have for hers.

I have been thinking about hellrider I only own 1 but I would take out the staticaster for those still don't have a better option for the champs. @poetmaster. I need a solid 1 drop to take its place the only thing off the top of my head would be stromkirk noble. Suggestions?
