I think the combo doesn't work here because the key word of the morbid effect is if the creature "dies", not if it's sacrificed with the pod. Well to be honest I don't know, I don't play Magic that much :S.

Sacrificing a creature means that it dies. Dies is just their new keyword for when a creature goes to the graveyard from play
