Deck Description

Hey everyone!

With the new Fate Reforged cards, I've tried to build a deck focusing on the Prowess ability Jeskai uses.

The deck is pretty straight forward.
You put your creatures out just in curve, buff them in combat with Coordinated Assault and Defiant Strike and try to trade out your opponent. When you've put some preassure on, you have plenty ways to end the game by bolting or overruning your opponent.

In such a midrangey and creature heavy environement Standard happens to be at this point, trading creatures well and having the right amount of removal is essential in this kind of deck. So we have a package of 12 removal- or kinda removalspells.

Banishing Light against huge threats and Elspeths etc.
Lightning strike against smaller creatures, help your Seeker or Swiftspear to trade well or just Bolt your opponent getting the extra Prowess buff.
Jeskai Charm is a beast itself. Whoever played against the Jeskai Tempo build from the beginning of Khans Standard, knows that this card is the MvP of the deck. Very versatile with 3 usefull modes its an auto-playset.
The last card is Valorous Stance from Fate Reforged. Its a test but seems very useful dealing with the whole Abzan Midrange strategy and serving protection for your creatures.

The creature set is pretty self explaining.
We have all the useful Prowess creatures as a playset plus 2 Jeskai elder for extra card quality.
The most ineresting includes are the 2 new cards from FRF.
Monastrey Mentor is probably the most broken card in the whole set. Not only he creates Tokens like Young Pyromancer, the Tokens also have Prowess! Putting him out sets the opponent to a very fast clock. He's the Goblin Rabblemaster this deck always wanted. As for budget options you could also run Rabblemaster or Mantis Rider instead of him, but at this point I think he's just too good to not play him! Notice that if you play Rabble or Mantis, you should also think about putting in Stoke the Flames for the great synergy.
The other new card is Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest.
While very cheap to afford I think hes a Bomb! Playing him turn 3, Attacking turn 4 Lightning Striking you opponent and using his ability does 11 Dmg absolute. I think he is pretty much underrated at the moment. The combination of Prowess and Double Strike can make very explosive plays.
Summing-up these 2 creatures are the main reason I wanted to try this build and I think they could make it possible to lift this deck up to a competetive top-Tier deck.

The sideboard is written down very fast for I dont know what the new meta will bring. Very controllish with some graveyard hate for Delve and Whip decks, this should do it for now.

If you have any suggestions to the Deck or the Sideboard, or you want give me a Feedback on how you like the deck, please post it in the comments below.

i see mainboard negate alot on MTGO, it basically counters any spell that can kill your creatures

Dont you think its more of a Sideboard card? I mean I have plenty of protection Main. It feels a bit to controlly in this kind of strategy.

A couple of really good cards would be Dauntless Onslaught (much like the coordinated assault but more pump) and maybe even a Glimpse the Sun God to swing lethal without problems from blockers

Hey! Thanks for your feedback!
I've already thought about Dauntless Onslought, but i'd like to use Shu Yuns ability when casting a spell which is possible with Coordinated Assault as early as turn 4. Dauntless Onslaught would be a turn later... Maybe a Sideboard option?
Glimpse is a nice idea! Any suggestions what to put out?

I will say despite the mana cost flying crane technique, deflecting palm, and dragon styles twins have been game winners with games i've played Jeskai. Flying Crane Tech or dragon style twins are higher cmc, but I would just consider two b/c of the devastation they can cause on life points on your opponents . Deflecting palm is just beast, when someone swings with there 15/15, casting that takes your opponent down to 5 nothing but a couple of lightning strikes wins you the game. Gods willing and Cyclonic Rift you also might consider for lower cmc cards.
