Deck Description

This is Voltron at its best. I believe Uril, the Miststalker is one of the best Voltron commanders out there (if not THE best) because he has built in hexproof. That alone makes him a valuable commander since he can't be targeted by removal, bounce, exile effects, tuck spells, or anything else.

The rest of the deck just builds around Uril's whole philosophy. Make him big, make him persistent, make him nasty. I've got an answer for just about anything other decks will do to screw you up. The mono-black player just cast Sheoldred? Well, you should have seen that coming and had Sigarda on the field (who also has built-in hexproof). Boros Charm nullifies Wrath effects for a single, while Avacyn and the many Totem Armor / indestructible auras provide a permanent solution for board wipes. Replenish and Rethether can allow you to suddenly recover from a Cyclonic Rift after you discard all the good enchantments and play Uril again, to steal an unexpected win. And there's always Mayael's Aria and Leyline of Punishment to get around the annoying Crucible of Worlds / Glacial Chasm / Exploration combo. Keep mana up for Flickerform in case you think your opponents have a wipe coming up, and if your opponent tries building a wall of creatures, the protection from creatures cards and Spirit en-Dal will take care of that right quick. Your enchantress effects will cantrip all your enchantments, letting you make up for your card disadvantage without sacrificing raw power.

I've got loads of tutors, but often times, your opening hand and the next few card draws will give you everything you need. Remember that all Uril needs to become a single-hit lethal kill engine is a Battle Mastery and Dust Corona. Things get scary fast.

How to Play

This is NOT a one-on-one deck. I have played one-on-one a few times (against Relentless Rats and Alluren, of all things), but i don't recommend playing against a single player. This deck is designed to take advantage of the squabbles between other various players, then come on top while everyone else is fighting.

I spend the early game ramping into Uril. I've cast him as early as turn three with nothing more than Sol Ring, but i personally prefer to spend more time ramping with things like Mirari's Wake so i can cast Uril and put some protection on him the same turn. I'll usually just use him as a blocker until i decide i want to end the game, then i just attack everyone and end the game.

Be creative, but don't wield your big beatstick too proudly. Uril has a big enough target on his head without you being a jerk about it. Try adopting as docile of an attitude as you can, waiting for the right moment to kill people off. It's typically best to not take an incredibly aggro stance. Spend some time setting things up and getting Uril big and nasty, and eventually someone will notice that you've got a 17/15 general with double strike, trample, lifelink, indestructible, unblockable, and vigilance. Then when someone does something you don't like, just kill them in one swift stroke. At that point, everyone else will probably turn against you, but that's not something Uril can't handle, especially when he can take down an opponent every time you have a combat step. Uril *has* been known to go from having done nothing the whole game to taking down three opponents during a single turn.

There is an infinite combo in this deck, in the form of Aggravated Assault + Bear Umbra. I've won with this a few times; it's really fun to pull off.

Don't forget to draw your cards with the Enchantress effects. I forget all the time.

Deck discussion for I AM REPTAR, HEAR ME ROAR! v1

Yea I see what your doing and glancing through, it could be a winning strategy.

I never seen that commander before, I would look at maybe adding archetype and god cards in there. I love archetypes.

I don't think I saw the 3 colour land in there either.

Most of it looks good if your willing to spend that much cash on it. It's way too expensive for my liking.

Just concentrate at unblockable and trample, and first/double strike to help against deathtouch.

Also most people put there commander in the sideboard to let you know.

Hope this helps

Whispersilk Cloak and Temur Battle Rage would both be very good in this deck considering the strategy your going for. Swiftfoot Boots would also be nice, surprised not to see it already.

Whispersilk Cloak is an absolute no no. It gives my general shroud and prevents me from attaching more Auras. I don't really need Temur Battle Rage ... but i will look into it. Seems like it could serve as a second Runes of the Deus except minus the +4/+4 buff. Now swiftfoot boots may very well work out. I only have one card here that grants haste (Instill Energy). I may use Hammerhand instead of Swiftfoot Boots though...

Oh ya it's shroud on Whispersilk Cloak, You are right you don't want that. That's actually why I suggested Swiftfoot Boots instead of Lightning Greaves. Temur Battle Rage does cost 3 less then Runes of Deaus and being able to use it as combat trick may prove to be game winning.

Added Temur Battle Rage, i really needed more trample in here.

How about Ancestral Mask and Sage's Reverie? They would be devastating alongside Ethereal Armor. Spectra Ward would also be a huge bomb keeping the auras already on Uril and now being able to swing with almost nothing coming in the way. Celestial Mantle is another great aura though expensive in mana cost, but a bomb nonetheless that can really just diminish any chances of your opponent winning when your attack gets through, and has saved me many times.

Ancestral Mask is a definite in, if i can figure out something that needs to be cut. Sage's Reverie is really expensive to cast though... The card draw is nice, but i already have quite a bit of that in here.

I will not include Spectra Ward or Celestial Mantle. Spectra Ward, although effecfively allowing Uril to be unblockable (except by colorless creatures!), prevents me from attaching further Auras, as it prevents the colored Aura spell from targeting Uril. I can easily get the size buff Celestial Mantle provides from a good chunk of Auras in this deck (like Blessing of the Nephilim, which costs a measely W). The doubling life total is nice, but this deck doesn't deal with life gain that much. It is designed to gain small amounts of life using lifelink abilities (usually in the area of 15-45 per swing), but also works just fine with Leyline of Punishment on the battlefield.

Ancestral Mask is way OP though. I am gonna try to fit that in!

I feel like Mirri's Guile should be cut for Ancestral Mask. It functions just like a Sensei's Divining Top and Sylvan Library minus the card draw.

I cut Gratuitous Violence for Ancestral Mask. Violence was too expensive anyway, comimg in at 2RRR.

I'm gonna start keeping track of my wins and losses. By the way, i'm playing on <http://untap.in> with the same username.

Why not use Cockatrice? It's a very good and safe free Magic the Gathering program you can play people online with, though to tell you the truth I've never used untap.in so I don't know if it's better or not. Here's the link to dowload Cockatrice: <http://www.woogerworks.com/index.php/client-downloads>
