Deck Description

This is basically a RDW supplemented with a couple extra colors to give it a competitive advantage. The whole idea of the deck is to find your burn spells quickly, and to make your burn spells count as much as possible.

I started out with an amazing Jeskai card that gives your instant and sorcery spells lifelink. I noriced that the biggest problem with RDW is that if never cares about its own life total. RDW will keep going on the offense until someone dies. I am all for this strategy (my Simic infect deck plays like this), except Standard is a format in which your life total is very relevant. Bringing your life down to 0 is the only way to lose in Standard right now. So... Soulfire Grand Master allows you to burn out your opponent to your heart's content, while not having to worry about your own life total dwindling. Also, the buyback ability is extremely relevant in the mid to late game, as it gives RDW much needed card advantage.

The second mainstay of the deck is Satyr Firedancer. This invaluable card functions as creature removal, allowing you to focus your burn spells on your opponent and not on your opponent's creatures. If you are wasting burn on creatures instead of beating face with it, you are gonna have a hard time. Satyr Firedancer rewards you for playing RDW as you ought to by killing off those annoying creatures for you.

Imagine you have a Soulfire Grand Master on the battlefield, alonng with two Satyr Firedancers and three goblin tokens. You have a few lands in play, and topdeck Stoke the Flames. Excellent! Now, with just four mana, you can:
- Burn your opponent for 4.
- Gain four life.
- Kill your opponent's Siege Rhino.
- Incinerate Kourser of Kruphix's big fat butt.
- Buy back that same burn spell and cast it again next turn.
The utility creatures make this get unfair really quickly.

Blue is in here solely for card advantage, and the counterspells in the side board. Being able to dig through your library is a valuable tool for RDW, and blue gives us exactly that power.
