A Dimir mill deck that sure does a lot of milling.

Deck discussion for Mill em' then Kill em'

Thought score without the threat of counter spells is pointless.

The mana curve here is also pretty scary.

In my experience Tormented Soul is easy removal and you're not playing enough ciphers to make it worth anything. I think you need to pick a strategy and go with it.

If you're running Consuming Abs, you need Wight of Precinct Six and Essence Harvest.

If you're running Cipher, add in Invisible Stalkers, a forth Jace Phasm, and maybe play around with Delvers.

Bottom line is this thing seems a bit scattered. Take a look at mine and see what you think.

1) Delvers have no need and no synergy with many of the cards in my deck
2) Wight only goes for creatures which may be unreliable at times
3) This is a mill deck but, I'll consider it.
4) If you know the capabilities of how and when Thought Scour is used, then you'd get it.

Plus why add the Crab to make this Modern (it'll get smoked). Better chances are in standard.

Seems this is trying for budget so switch out the crabs for Shadow Alley denizen if you're going for Cipher. Add in Hands of Binding or maybe Death's Approach for removal instead of Dreadwaters.

Well, it is a mill deck so I don't see the point in any of the cards you're telling me about.

If it is a true mill then think about swapping out Tormented Soul (I feel you have him in there for Cipher). There are better milling combos. Also just take 1 second to look and think about the capabilities of Essence Harvest with your Consuming Ab or Jace Phasm. 10+ life point swing or even a KO is a nice trick to have up your sleeve here.

If this is modern, then I'd run traumatize over mind grind because mind grind isn't effective unless you pay three and then it's unpredictable. Trauma always takes half...just like an exwife);) also you need more board control if your going to survive to turn five in modern. I'd think about mass creature wipe spells. Good luck!

Agreed. Maybe a mutilate here? I like Cyclonic rifts as well. Puts a nice wrench into agro decks.

Dimir mill is awesome when it gets rolling I have a very similar build. Dreadwaters is a good card in late game situations if you have been hitting constant land drops consistently, however there are games where its going to helpful but ultimately could be replaced. since you are relying on Abs and other creatures like crabs and phantasms then switching your 3 dreadwaters with psychic strike can help provide some protection or stop your opponents bombs that can turn the tides on you. if your not not willing to trade out the mill power then sands of delerium would still be better it a 3 drop and you can mill equal to your land each turn instead. Finally I dont know if you like planeswalkers or not but jace, memory adept is great if you can protect him effectively. he isnt too expensive right now and just 2 is plenty for a mill deck.

Keep the crab's, they mill an insane amount of lands even without fetchlands.

lose the mind grind and replace it with mind funeral which is lightyears better!

Here's my own WBU-mill:

Yo there, just poping in to tell you that two mill-decks have won nice places in modern, meaning mill is now doable!
I've put the exact designs on my own "page", so go there and have a look if you wan't to try them out...

Since there were two very different designs winning, I think the cards they shared in common should be a hint towards what actually works for mill...

Here's what the two winning designs got in common:
4 hedron crabs
4 archive trap
4 visions of beyond
4 glimpse the unthinkable
3 cards giving slight card advantage (either snapcaster mage or augur of bolas)
2 cards discarding important stuff (either thoughtseize or surgical extraction)
