Hydra Deck, meant to maximize growth and create multiple win conditions. It is mostly G/R, but it has a big splash of white and small splash of blue, hence my need for Trace of Abundance, Birds of Paradise, and Rupture Spire. With Fate Transfer, if for some reason the hydra is killed (most likely because I cast it but couldn’t protect it fast enough), then I can use the cheap Fate Transfer to put all of the counters on PH onto another creature – say Thrun, the Last Troll. This is my final insurance against losing all the counters. So for me, PH the creature isn’t as valuable as the counters it creates – I consider my PH as a sort of counter bank that I invest in and expect a return out of. If it looks like the market is about to plummet, I withdrawal my investments so far and transfer them to a more secure location. I consider Fate Transfer to be one of the most crucial cards in this deck for that reason. You’ll notice in this deck list also Doubling Season, Mayael’s Aria, and Paradox Haze. This is where the deck can get really fun. All 3 are meant to make PH more effective, and provide minor buffs to the rest of my deck. With Doubling Season, any counters put on a card are doubled; so that means +1/+1 counters, charge counters, even loyalty counters on Planeswalkers. Paradox Haze gives me an additional upkeep phase after my first phase ends, and Mayael’s Aria not only buffs all my creatures (giving them all +1/+1 counters even if they had none) but also gives me life and is an alternate win condition. Animar, Soul of Elements is a neat inclusion too because he’s cheap and I can use Fate Transfer to add counters onto him from another creature which would could make all my non X CC creatures free and my X CC creatures significantly buffed or free. As if Animar doesn’t have enough protection on himself, with Asceticism on the field he’s completely protected. Lux Cannon, Karn and Chandra are all good for perm destruction, especially when buffed by Doubling Season.
