Deck Description

This is the 2.0 version of my T2 Extortion pump deck.
The heart and soul of this deck is the extort ability. In order to make use of this ability you need to have a lot of mana available. That is the purpose of having the mana ramp in the deck. This makes Axebane Guardian and Sylvan Caryatid absolutely necessities in this deck, and why it has any green at all.

Extort pairs with Archangel of Thune to boost your creatures every time you use extort. Things get even better if you have a Fathom Mage up so you can draw as many cards as you extort.

Duress, and thoughtseize are single mana spells to trigger extort and protect your creatures from removal spells.

Smite again can trigger duress cheaply and remove a creature that has been harassing you.

This is my revamped version, that's taken into account most suggestions. There were a few good suggestions, just they didn't fit in.

Edit: Added 2x Bow of Nylea, this allows you to gain life and trigger the angel, or add a +1/+1 with the fathom mage if the other parts of the combos aren't out. Not to mention the ability to keep your graveyard empty.

Deck discussion for T2 Ramped extortion

You are going to end up with way too much green mana. I would add in 4x Orzhov Guildgates

Would that be in preference of Temple of Silence to replace the forests? Or would you cut 4 of something else to add both?

While I do agree I will end up with a lot of green mana, why would that be an issue given how much white and black mana I can generate, using Axebane Guardian and Sylvan Caryatid?

My two cents worth. Keep the deck B/W and run 4x crypt ghast and 2x Lilliana of the dark realms for mana ramp.

The reason I have shied away from that is the amount of mana available still only goes up by 1 per turn. The 4x crypt ghast do increase that, but with the 4x Axebane guardian you get +1 mana for every defender you control. 4 of which extort, and another 4 give mana. So 1 axebane, 2 basilica guards and 2 Sylvan Caryatid, yields 7 extra mana, which can be used as any color.

Also dropping these eliminates the only source of card draw in a deck that SORELY needs it.

To clarify the difference I am seeing:

T1 land
T2: land, sylvan Caryatid
T3: land Basilica Guard,
T4; land Axebane Guardian, sylvan Caryatid

At the end of turn 4 I have the potential to be able tap for 10 mana. This could be more, if things feel even better.

Vs.

T1 Swamp
T2 Swamp
T3 Swamp
T4 Swamp Crypt ghast

At the end of turn 4 I have the potential to tap for 8 mana assuming all the lands were swamps. Which would also prevent you from being able to use or lay any of your white cards.

The choice in using green is to be able to hit my stride sooner in terms of the amount of mana needed to run the deck, and to be more flexible in how I spend my mana.

Yes liliana will eventually over take the green splashed in. But I have chosen speed over the extra late mana.
