Deck Description

Threshold has always been a mechanic I enjoyed seeing but never had a chance to play with.

This deck takes some of the better Threshold cards and combines them with some Golgari self-mill to achieve Threshold as quickly as possible. It's not the fastest deck, but once you reach Threshold you should be able start beating faces quickly. Grisly Salvage, Mulch, and Drown in Filth all help to quickly hit that 7-card line while being useful in the process. Far Wanderings is an absurd mana fetcher once you hit threshold (3 lands for 3cc? Yes please!). Splinterfright helps maintain your Threshold (in case there's some graveyard hate) and benefits from the self-mill. Knight of the Reliquary helps hold Threshold and also thins out the deck and can potentially help if you're badly mana-screwed.

Everything else just wants Threshold so you can smash people's faces in.

The deck's power can obviously be improved with the addition of powerful dual lands, but this deck is intentionally budget-friendly. Obviously 12 Shocklands would help a lot.

How to Play

Get stuff into your graveyard as fast as you can so you can hit 7. This is can easily be achieved within the first 3 turns. Mulch and Salvage will get you there almost immediately, and any chump blocking or an additional Mulch/Salvage will get you Threshold. Knight of the Reliquary and Splinterfright both contribute to Threshold and get progressively larger the longer they live on the field (Splinterfright can even help the Knight!)

Once you've got Threshold, all of your primary beaters suddenly become ultra-efficient. Mystic Enforcer is a 6/6 Flying Protection from Black beatstick for 4, and Krosan Beast is an 8/8 for 4.

Obviously this deck is vulnerable to graveyard hate, so if that becomes a problem, putting some enchantment killers (for Leyline of the Void, for example) can be helpful.
