Deck Description

Pretty straight forward. Mill and fog for the win. Snapcast out those fog effects, and Jace mill to put them away hopefully on turn 5.

If it gets hairy, swap life with a tree and regroup.

Reliquary tower just in case you have the pleasure of ultimate on Jace. Even if you don't have it down already, you're likely to draw into one that you can play on the same turn.

Deck discussion for M13 Mill Fog

You seem really good, I can't think of any critiques. I was wondering if you could take a look at a deck I'm trying to get off the ground. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=359986

i made a deck sim to this except i put 4 fog banks and two swords of body and mind 4 moonmists and 3 talrands with that being said whats the point of having the tree in there?? i can see how hes a good blocker and in worse case gain some life but if your turbo fogging you shouldnt be taking too much damage. maybe in side board if your going agianst burn but thats the only case i can see it being good in. ii do like the tides i didnt think of putting those in here but i like it.

Hey, thanks for the input.

I like to have some sort of life gain the turbo fog decks... just in case you can't seem to pull any fogs out when you need em. That was really the only reason for the tree. I suppose 3 is probably too many. Fog bank is good, I'll have to think about working those in...

I can see Talrand being awesome, but I don't think I have the room for him. I might reconsider to gain an alternate win condition after I play it a few times. (Still waiting for a few cards to come in to try this deck out)

This deck is really fun to play. I played 30 games with the original build and never once wanted to ultimate Jace, or use the first ability, so I cut the Towers for more Islands. The current build seems good (even though there are 5 Trees in the 75). This deck has it's weaknesses (Goblins) but also makes people want to rage quit with frustration when they can't cause damage. I have had the most success casting Jace turn 6 with a fog in hand for protection. Overall this is a great design, and a blast to play.

Awesome, glad you liked it.

Sorry about the mis-count above. I'll fix it. Curious if you ever ended up using the tree's for swapping life in the original build? I was switching things around based on the above comment and miss counted for the board.

Also, have you tried siding in Jace's Erasure and suiciding Jace for his ultimate? It causes them to draw 40 cards, =] (a bit trickier to setup of course)

The trees are critical, especially vs. burn and Goblin Grenades. The all star of the deck is Snapcaster Mage, who allows you to recast your fog spells. As far as the Jace's Erasure combo, no I haven't tried it. Jace becomes a target as soon as he hits the battlefield. If you don't have any protection for him, he's as good as dead. Devastation tide has also saved me a few times, allowing the recasting of trees that have traded out life, while clearing the field. The key is to be patient and not try to force anything. Ideally I would like to play, turn 1Dream Twist, turn 2 Mind Sculpt, turn 3 Jace's Phantasm (leaving 2 mana to fog or Terrifying Presence), turn 4 Tree, turn 5 any mill card, turn 6 Jace with a fog in hand and then Snapcaster fogs until they are milled out with Jace.

I'm not conviced on rites. You run no Mind sculps... which is like having rites for 7 turns, and they don't get the cards. I don't think the extra land benefits me more than the opposing player, so I feel that is a disadvantage.

Conjurer's closest is def interesting, but I think I'd rather just have another snapcaster. Your deck seems less turbo-foggy. Which is prolly a good thing, since turbo fog is gimmicky for sure. My deck might transform to something more like yurs in the future.

I would rather run 4 Skinshifter instead of 2 Fog Banks / 2 Tree of redemption. Skinshifter can ba a good blocker, a good 4/4 killer, and a sneaky flier / harasser along with Jace's Phantasm.

Keep up the good work!
