With "Puresteel Paladin", "Stonehewer Giant" and Leonin Shikari you will be able to get and move equipments in play really easily.And how easy it is to have 2 "Tempered Steel" in play and therefore be able to cast a 4/6 Flying "Ornithopter" and a 5/5 Memnite, which both cost 0 to cast.And what if you drop a "Thopter Assembly"? Nice deck, looks fun to play. However I'm not seeing the use in the Door to Destinies. Your creature types are to varied, Artifact is not a type valid type to name.

Its not the main focus of the deck at all, you are right, but you can still have a few Thopter's getting some extra boost. :) just for fun.
Another thing to consider for the same cmc is Deathrender which is a game changer and one of my fav equipment's. Fit's into the sword theme as well.
