Deck Description

Another reworking of an older deck.

How to Play

Main idea is to use removal to control the board long enough to get value out of having multiple planeswalkers out.

Chandra, Acolyte of Flame adds additional loyalty to all the red planeswalkers. This allows for bigger [-X] on the 6 mana Chandras, the ability to make more Dragon tokens more often with Sarkhan, a d accelerates Torch of Defiance to her ultimate. The extra loyalty also helps pay for animating Heart of Kiran.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance is a solid card on all her abilities. Regulator on her mana ability nets you 3 mana (because it costs 1 mana to activate the Regulator), and if used on her ultimate, each spell you cast after will deal 2 lots of 5 damage.

Sarkhan, while not a Chandra, is able to turn all the planeswalkers into 4/4 flying threats.

Chandra's Regulator is mainly to get extra value out of the Chandras, but it can also loot away extra legendary cards / excess mountains and help dog towards cards needed.

Main win conditions:
Staking emblems from Chandra, Torch of Defiance and / or Chandra, Awakened Inferno.
Sarkhan turning all the planeswalkers into dragons.
Heart of Kiran.
Ribbons half of Cut // Ribbons, especially is you use the mana from Chandra, Torch of Defiance (and +1 more from Regulator copying it).

Deck discussion for Chandra Tribal

For a long time I've been thinking of chandra being a new boost to mill.
Which of the chandra's would you recommend to support a mill deck with big mill spells, like archive trap, glimpse the unthinkable and tasha's hideous laughter ?

Chandra, torch of defiance appeals a lot to me, because it can +1 and keep up the steam that mill normally runs out of.
It can aid big mill spells by adding RR, it can provide removal which is always a longterm problem for mill, and it can turn all the mill into burn spells. And it only costs 4 to cast. The mill will make it difficult to draw the right cards to take out chandra.

I gues the fire acolyte version of her could be used to recast cheap mill, but then the removal must come from somewhere else.

Do you have any insights in the concept through your experience with your chandra deck ?

If you're set on using a Chandra in mill, and thus adding red to a traditionally blue black archetype, here's what I'd suggest:

Chandra, Acolyte of Flame - Her [-2] allows you to recast those 1-3 mana value mill spells and your non-mill value cards like Crypt Incursion and Fatal Push.
Another option that adding red opens up are the red copy spells (there are blue ones though) like Dual Strike.
I don't think Chandra, Torch of Defiance is good as a draw engine in mill. They already have good draw in cards like Visions of Beyond and pseudo draw in Shelldock Isle.

Personally, I believe blue black is the best in 2 colours, specifically blue black.
I'm not a mill player though, so I suggest looking up decks that have posted good results in tournaments and use them for reference. MTG Top 8 should have a number of UB Mill deck lists, just be sure to search for the Modern deck lists.

I haunt the top lists pretty frequently, and despite mill, getting good results it performed a lot better in the past.
It had just gained a momentum when someone decided to add lurrus, and it's been weaker since then, in spite of new cards.

I'm not into visions & shelldocks either :)

I've splashed red into my mill forever, and got a pretty good idea of how almost everything works in mill.
When dual strike and tasha's hideous laughter started seeing action in arena I started thinking of chandra again, and have been for a while :)

I've also thought a lot about chandra's regulator in a more burnlike setting.

What about 1-2 [[Karn's Bastion]], to crank up your planeswalkers a little faster? When you have some PW's on the board, you can sink your mana into [[Chandra's Regulator]], but if you have any to spare, you could use it to proliferate.

There's a LOT of {R}{R} in the costs of the cards in this deck, so I don't want too many lands that can't add {R}. I'll consider the Bastion, but I'm worried that will make casting these {R}{R} cards a bit more difficult. The same can be said for any land that doesn't produce {R}, including the Swamps.

I have considered trying out Light Up the Night in the slots Cut // Ribbons is in. Just need to acquire Light Up the Night.
