Deck discussion for Hellbent Nights

I'd say focus more. Lots of single copies of cards can make a deck unreliable.

I would agree. Way to may singles. See if you can pick a theme with your Rakdos cards and build around that. Rakdos cards tend to be based around discarding. So you might try that. Here is my R/B deck that you can take a look at.

You should think about substituting deathbringer thoctar for vampiric dragon. It gets +1/+1 whenever a creature goes to the yard and you can use the counters to deal 1 dmg.... it fits your scheme better I believe.

hmm yah i thought about switching out the two but wasnt sure. i would agree he does fit better in the deck. thx.

i love Quietus Spike. if you combo it with Ickspitter as i've been debating doing for my Bolas deck, you get deathpoke AND hit your opponent for half. tell me how that goes if you choose to run it.

If you want some long game creatures I would suggest; avatar of discord, Rakdos pit dragon, mind slicer, Malfegor and hollow born barghest. Only one copy of the last two and up to four of each of the first three.

idk maybe i can put them in the sb for now. i think the thoctar does a really good job at being a late game finisher.

I would say Liliana of the Veil is a must, as she gets your hellbent going (as well as making everyone else discard), she has a reusable cruel edict, and her ultimate is ridiculous.

I would definitely go for Rakdos Pit Dragon as a finisher over the thoctar. The pit dragon comes out two turns earlier and starts going bananas when you have no cards left. The thoctar looks good, but youre going to need a lot of death to really get it rolling, and i dont think your deck can kill enough creatures. The pit dragon is also a 3/3 body, but with much more managable abilities.

-2 arid messa -2 marsh flats, +4 bloodstained Mire. If your going to use fetchlands use the right ones

0

true i can use those but the money would kill me. im thinkin of droppin the messa and flats for wilds or expanse just for budget reasons. only reason i keep them really is to play a small mind game. make my opp think i might just have a splash of white for something. stupid yes, but amusing.

i might put 1 or 2 copies of one with nothing in here incase you really need hellbent for a win or something,

Pit Dragon and Lightning Bolt are easily two of the best cards in this deck, yet they're in your sideboard. I think they're both better than some of the cards in your main (like Rakdos Ickspitter).

Your mana curve isn't very good. You want more 1 drops and less 3 drops.

Fetch lands, unless you're playing both colors, are not really worth it unless you have Badlands or Blood Crypt. If you had those lands too, then I would say that the fetch lands are more than worth it. The mind games just aren't really worth it.

Finally I wouldn't use Grim Harvest. There are better cards and you don't really want to be putting stuff into your hand. Maybe Exhume would be better, since it puts it right into play.

Take a look at my Legacy Reanimation deck if you get the chance or any of my decks.
