My friends and I started out in 1995 right around the release of Ice Age. Back then we didn't fear Necropotence or the later Force of Will. What kept us up at night was Minion of Leshrac. Tap to destroy? Man that was frightening.
The plan is to make the Minion the same creature type as all others on the battlefield. With Faces of the Past in play, you can destroy every creature on the battlefield and ping a land for good measure. Block early with Spiny Starfish and feed the Minion with Kelp and Starfish tokens.
